Alexis Levan's POV
The fear of height and the fear of planes is what gives me those knots in the stomach and I may just throw up.
"Missing Manhattan already? It's a long flight to Berlin, you know" Damien is smirking at me from the opposite end of the table while I am being a big bundle of chaos here.
"Don't tease her, Damien" says Hayden, calmly as he takes a seat beside me and soon, his strong, warm arms wrap me in a sweet cuddle.
"Is Sloane doing alright in there?" I enquire about our Pilot aka the Scientist aka the brains of this group aka ex-Eros employee aka (it's the last one, I swear) Sloane Washington.
"She's doing fine, but I will ask her to trade places after a few hours" Hayden smiles comfortingly at me. That's it. He's all I need. My Perfect Match. My pillar of support. My...
"You know how rad it is that this woman can do literally anything!" my cousin, Nadia jumps out of her seat and makes her way to us.
I roll my eyes and bury my face in Hayden's soft leather jacket. Nadia annoys me. We are first cousins, but we had a more direct contact only recently, when I graduated College two months ago and travelled all the way from Boston to New York, in search for a University to pursue my Master's degree from. These last two months have just dragged on and on and on...
Just like how it is now, Nadia never stops talking. I just honestly want her to shut up sometimes... ahm, most of the times, but I could never say it to her since I was living on her couch, because apartment search in New York is 10,000 times harder than they show in movies.
When you find the perfect place, they give you such a paralysing advance and rental agreement, that you worry that they may even charge you for that one minute dream you had while touring, of ever having a life in that place.
Right now, Nadia is panicking over her perfect match, Steve. I mean, I get it, you're worried. We all are, but stressing out is going to get us nowhere. I could just yell at her face right now but I feel Hayden's arms tighten around me and he plants a soft kiss on the top of my head.
"It's gonna be alright. I'm with you" he whispers sweetly, while Nadia keeps on blabbering about some Eros goons now. Poor Damien... he is simply nodding and smiling to whatever Nadia is saying. I can bet my kidney that he understands nothing. He's just letting her get it all out of her system.
Whatever evil there is with Eros, there's one thing I have to give them the due credit for, and that is, giving me my perfect match. As hot headed and impulsive I can be, Hayden is just as calm. As bad of a listener I am, he listens, understands and gives just as great of an advice.
The one thing that we have in common are good looks.
I mean... why not? I am confident in myself and my looks. I was always the hot, popular girl at school. Captain of the cheer squad, girlfriend of the Basketball team Captain and the 'almost' Prom Queen too. It was a pain, seeing my boyfriend, Michael get crowned the Prom King and my opponent, Sherry Dean, become the Prom Queen. I hate losing, but I pride myself in not being a sore loser. I was genuinely happy for her... until, I found her and Michael hooking up in the girl's bathroom.
Ahh yes... the rest of the night was quite 'eventful' and our High School remembered the names of Alexis Levan, Michael Hunter and Sherry Dean for many Proms to come.
"Do you need another blanket, my love?" Hayden startles me.
"Hayden, she almost slept!" yells Nadia, "Forgive him, he's just not as good as Steve when it comes to understanding your girlfriend"
