'So Adam, when are we booking the tickets?' I asked excitedly.
We were in his mega huge kitchen ( and I mean huge! ) baking brownies.
'Their already booked, Belle' he replied, and awarded me with on of his charming smiles. He put the brownies tray in the oven and closed the door, setting the timer on while I stared at him in disbelief. He didn't!
'They are!? Why didn't you tell me!? For what date?? Adam! A girl has to shop for these kind of things, don't you understand??'
'We leave for Dubai in 3 weeks and umm... I thought it would be a nice surprise?' He looked at me with a adorable expression on his face, and I knew I couldn't stay mad at him for long. I walked closer to him and stood before him, folding my arms across my chest.
Sighing, I asked: 'Okay, how much do I owe you?'
He leant back on the kitchen counter, mirroring my movements and looked back at me with a certain glint in his eyes. He hated me paying him back for anything or even buying him anything!
'You don't.'
Oh God, here we go..
'Please Adam, I really don't want to argue with you right now. I appreciate everything you have done and do for me, but I really can't accept this. It's too much. Look, the only way I'll enjoy myself is if you let me pay for my ticket!'
'Why? Why does this effect you so? It's my gift to you! Let me take you, Belle! Who knows when we'll ever have this chance again?' He stood taller, and stepped towards me, pleading with his eyes.
'Adam.. You don't understand..' I trailed off as I seen his eyes sparkle with mischief. 'What are you- eek!'
I shrieked as he swiped frosting all over my face. 'I'm gonna get you for that!'
'You do that, Belle!' I heard his distant laughter, as he ran out of the kitchen in to the back yard.
Wiping my arm across my face, I grabbed the nearest thing I could get my hands on ( flour, yes, flour )and ran after him. Pay back time! I stepped outside and looked around me, but couldn't see him. He was obviously hiding behind one of the gigantic trees or something, knowing it would take me quite some time to find him. I tiptoed past the pool, the sunlight reflecting in the water, towards one of the trees when I sensed a movement in the pool. Narrowing my eyes, and treading carefully, thinking of all the times that mischievous boy has pushed me into this very pool, I looked for any other signs of him in the water but found none. The water was so blue and so still and so lush, maybe I'll suggest a swim later-- 'Agghh-Ada-gulp!'
I fell into the water with a big splash and could just imagine him holding his stomach and laughing at me. That thought made me swim to the surface quick, and sure enough when I pulled myself up, Adam was laying down on the ground next to the pool, dripping from head to toe and looked like he had trouble breathing- wait, what!?
'Adam!' I ran over to him, kneeling down by his side, and put my hands on his chest. I was about to perform CPR when suddenly he opened his eyes, grinning, and I was staring into gems of green. And then I slapped him.
'Why did you do that? I thought you were dying! ITS NOT FUNNY!' I yelled at him as he clutched his stomach, rolling over the floor.
Standing up, I marched away from him. Almost too quickly, I was yanked back by my arm, and then I was turned round to face him. Even in a white t-shirt, and sweatpants, he looked edible. Okay, Isabella, no need to go all vampirish on the poor guy.
'Hey,' he said softly. I blinked.
'Let me go, Adam.'
'With you upset with me? I don't think so. Look, I'm sorry, okay? Forgive me, please?
'No.'
'Belle.' He held my face in his hands and forced me to look up at him. He had a pleading look on his face but I wasn't letting him off that easily! No matter how much my heart was telling me to! Be still, you bloody thing! (No pun intended)
I crossed my arms over my chest, and huffed and puffed while Adam stood watching me with amusement playing across his face.
'What are you doing?'
'Trying to stop my mouth from saying three words.'
Chuckling, he took me by the shoulders and knelt down so he could look me in the eyes.
'And what three words would those be, Miss Blonde Rose?'
I rolled my eyes. 'That never has and still doesn't make sense, Shaykh.'
'Why not? You have blonde hair, and your last name is Rose. Makes perfect sense to me. Now stop changing the subject.' He looked at me meaningfully.
'I-I-'
'Come on, can't be that hard, Belle.'
'Stop smirking, or I'm not saying it' I retorted, wiping the smirk off his face.. Time to let him off the hook.. 'I forgive you.'
He smiled wide, even though it looked a little forced to me but maybe that was my imagination because next thing I knew, he had picked me up, and swung me over his shoulder and was running towards the pool. Not again!
'Adam, no! I'll take it back!'
'Too late, Belle!'
With a whoop, he threw us both in the pool. I glared at him as I came up sputtering. He of course, was perfectly fine as always, grinning that wild grin at me. My heart fluttered, and I mentally groaned. What was wrong with me!? Why couldn't I be mad at him for real??
He swam over to me and I couldn't help myself as my hand flew up and moved those luscious locks off of his forehead.
'Hey.'
I giggled. 'Hey yourself.'
'Thanks.'
'Your welcome.' I smiled back at him.
'So,' he start swimming towards the house, 'should we go eat those brownies?'
'Oohh! Yess!' I couldn't help but remember when we would swim back, holding hands. Maybe I shouldn't dwell on the past memories. Maybe it's time to make some more, I told myself. Following Adam, I hoped with all my heart we would never break up. Ever.
