Jay's POV
Placing my headphones in I drown out my surroundings as I set my pace. Five more minutes and I would have had to run with the middles age moms again. Sure, they didn't talk to me, but I can always feel their stares as we go around the park. I am 5'5 and I'd like to think myself as built but I also have short brown hair and neck tattoos and from their mumbles just too many piercings. This is the reason I no longer walk freely in my workplace. Instead I had my personal elevator installed in my office and my own spare bed and bath. Of course, only I have access to these things but with my absence things has really gotten out of hand.
I am the CEO of James Enterprise. I started my company straight out of college and named it after my beloved father. He's still alive but after I had come out as gay we don't talk much. Apparently in his eyes I have a mental illness that needs to be cured. That was five years ago. It's been five years since I've seen my family. I send thing Christmas cards and gifts and occasionally, I will receive a letter on how they are doing. My mom, dad, and younger brother Mason. I miss them every day. I just don't know how to show it, so I dive into my work. That is one of the main reasons I have been so successful. I haven't had any distractions. Until now.
"Excuse me." Someone says but I barely hear until a body comes crashing into me knocking me onto the ground.
"Watch it!" I snap looking up at the horrified woman on the ground next to me.
"I am so sorry ma'am. I was just in a rush and late for my first day of work. I didn't see you." She explains helping me up along side her.
"It's fine but this is a park and you're not dressed to serve hot dogs." I joke watching as her cheeks turn a slight shade of pink.
"No, my boss requested that I go to this special coffee shop here for her and it's across town form my apartment. I'm still trying to figure out where everything is." Listening to her soft and nervous voice gives me time to study her face. She has ocean blue eyes and long black hair. Her dimples in her cheeks shows every time she smiles which only happens once when she just states at me. I then realize that she asks me something and I must ask what she said. "I asked if you are alright but if you're that badly hurt, I can take you to the hospital, but I don't think staring at me is gonna help much."
I smile shyly at the beautiful woman in front of me. "You are correct, but I don't think your boss would like you being any later." Her eyes widen at the realization as she checked her watch proving that I was right.
"Shit. Yes, I guess I'll see you later then." With that she was off. Leaving me with out a name and a good view as I watch her go. Damnit Jay stop being a perv. I continue my run not doing as many laps as I wanted because a beautiful woman invaded my mind.
"Good morning Mrs. Night." My assistant says to me as soon as my elevator opens. She greets me with a warm cup of coffee and the news report for the month. I walk over my door to unlock it to find it already open. Strange. Upon further investigation I see that my assistant, umm Julie has already opened my door and placed more files on my desk. I gave her a spare key for emergency's only and I'm starting to regret it. "We have a meeting at noon to discuss the contract with..." She continues talking about how my day will go but I block her out because I know she will remind me again. Her voice is annoying, but she is the best assistant that I have ever had. Always one time and on top of her work. Then I take a sip of my coffee. Honey. I look down to see the logo of the local coffee shop at the park. Oh no.
I turn around to see Julie still talking with a huge smile on her face. "And after that I thought maybe you would like to go to dinner with me?" Wtf...
