Betty sat at the back of her class as per usual. She never sat anywhere someone could notice or judge her. She hated being the centre of attention.

So she wrote in her book -diary- it was filled with poems she had written. It was her way of trying to figure out her emotions -other than dance of course.

The guilt crept in like a storm,
Out of nowhere,
It demolished me,
Like nothing ever had,
I went to bed,
Head swirling and stomach churning,
Hoping the day ahead would be
of more joy than this,
It wasn't.

She smiled at her newly written poem. That's when the bell rung -lunchtime.

Betty sat at a table with Cheryl. Cheryl was the most popular girl in school -mostly because everyone was terrified of her- but she was still Betty's cousin and sat with Betty in the corner by herself every lunchtime.

Cheryl had once said to her: "Nothing comes before my family and the people I love, I lost you once cousin and I will not lose you again".

Betty could never explain how much that meant, how much she meant to her. They were best friends. Betty was the first one person Cheryl came out to and Cheryl was one of three people who knew what happened to Betty those three months she was gone.

Without Cheryl, Betty would be lost. They weren't cousins, they hadn't been for a very long time -they were sisters.

"So, done any writing recently?" Asked Cheryl. She was the only other person who knew about Betty's love for poetry.

"In English, yeah. Do you wanna see it?" Betty asked her red headed 'sister'.

"Of course I do, hon!" She replied excitedly as Betty got out her journal of sorts.

Cheryl read it carefully and deeply, she took in every word.

"Honestly Luv, you need to publish a poetry book when your out of this hell hole. It's gorgeous Betty as always" Cheryl said hading the blonde her leather book back.

"Thanks Chair" Betty replied a smirk on her lips.

"One day I will get you to stop calling me that!" Cheryl hissed playfully.

When Betty was younger she couldn't say Cher so she called her Chair and ever since it had stuck.

A few minutes later the tanoi started -indicating Mr Weatherbee was talking.

"Good afternoon students, I am here to inform you that Southside high students will be transferring as of tomorrow. We would like to present a good welcoming front so please be nice to our new additions. Also would Betty Cooper and Cheryl Blossom please report to my office I repeat Betty Cooper and Cheryl Blossom."

You could hear the groan of everyone in the cafeteria-apart from me and Cheryl. We had never had any bad opinions of the Southside. They had never done anything bad to us so why should we hate them like everyone else.

Me and Cheryl looked at each other confused before packing away our things and exiting the cafeteria-on our way to Mr Weatherbee's office.

"Hello, Mr Weatherbee called us here" Betty said to the receptionist at his office.

"Just go right in" she nodded back.

Betty and Cheryl entered his room and sat down quietly.

"Alright what's this about Mr Weatherbee because as far as I can recall we haven't broken any rules" Cheryl said sighing and leaning back in her chair.

Betty had to suppress her giggle.

"That's not why I called you here Miss Blossom. I called you here because I would like you two, to give our new students their tours tomorrow." He said softly. "I think this would be good for you Betty maybe make some new friends? You've never been the same since you came back" He spoke carefully, leaning forward.

"How is that any of your business! Betty can speak and hang out with whoever sh-" Cheryl was cut off by Betty.

"Cheryl it's ok" She said. "Fine we will do the tour but only for extra credit. As for my friendships I don't see that it is any of your concern and if you have a problem with it please speak to my mother, I'd like to see you face the rath of Alice Cooper. Now if we are done here we should be going to class" Betty said a smirk playing on her lips.

"Uh alright, yes goodbye" He said shakily.

"Toodles" Cheryl said walking out with her blonde best friend.

"Betty that was badass" Cheryl said once out of hearing range.

"I have my moments" Betty smiled at the girl as they both headed to biology.

"Hi mom" Betty said walking into the kitchen after school.

"Hi sweetheart, how was your day?" She asked.

"It was ok I guess. We're getting new students from the Southside, but other than that pretty normal." Betty said.

"Hmm I wonder if I know any of the kids" Alice said chopping up some pepper.

"Maybe" said Betty opening the fridge.

"Make any more friends today?" She asked her daughter.

"Mom, you know what everyone thinks of me, I'm the weirdo now, anyone who would want to be friends with me is probably a serial killer" Betty joked taking a water bottle out of the fridge.

"So you're still getting stared at and called names?" Alice asked setting the knife down.

"Of course I am mom, they aren't gonna stop until they find out what happened so I'll just stick it out" Betty said sitting down.

"I can talk to the school Betty" Alice said.

"Please don't, I'd rather just stay hidden ok? Who knows maybe people will be too distracted by the Southsiders to even notice me" Betty suggested. "Anyway I'll be in the basement working on some choreography call me when dinners ready" Betty said picking up her bag and walking down the stairs.

What Betty didn't know was that in fact she would be the one distracted by Southsiders.
