Today is the first day of seventh grade. It's time for history class. I have Mrs. Smith for my first class.
"Hello everyone! Today we will learn our basic history."
She booted up a presentation.
"From the beginning of time there were Beasts and women. When the Beasts around the world was polluted and there was war and fighting and everything in the world that was horrible thrived.everyone was poor, Fighting each other, and they hurt women and turned us against each other. and they caused the world to slowly die. But we retaliate against the Beasts sending them underground. Now the world thrives. Crime isn't half as bad as it would be if the beasts stayed, The world is at peace, we all are so smart, and we all are wealthy and women can do anything that the Beasts refused to allow us to do. The world would be dead if the Beasts stayed on the outside world with us. Okay the presentation is over any questions?"
I feel nothing but boredom. They tell us the same thing every time. 'Beasts did horrible things!' 'The world would die if the monsters come back!' and so on.
I raise my hand.
"Excuse me Mrs. Smith, What did the monsters look like?" The smile on her face faltered for a second. "It doesn't matter, it's better to keep the past in the past and forget about it."
"Wasn't it you that said 'If you don't learn history you are doomed to repeat it. And I want to learn this history. So what did they look like."
She looked nervous.
"Hey! Class, how about we watch a movie! An amazing romance movie! And Quin detention! Go to the detention room."
I rolled my eyes. All my questions aren't answered, people either don't know the answer or just avoid the question at all costs. I get my stuff, my crime and law books, my journal, and my backpack. I shuffle to the detention room.
Miss Harlenn is in there.
"Little miss Quin Rosetta Jacklyn. You wouldn't end up in here if you just let the beast thing go. It's not worth it and it's nothing important to know." Miss Harlenn told me.
"If it's nothing important then why are people not telling us this stuff at all costs!" I ask.
"Because they rather keep it in the past." Miss Harlenn tells me.
"But-"
"NO BUTS!... Um, it's just something that isn't worth learning. They aren't even going to let kids learn it from now on. Today was the last time we learned it. They should have made this rule when they first got rid of bo- BEASTS!" She informs me.
"What are you saying? You said something else." I sceptiside
"It's nothing I was just thinking they are as dumb as bamboos so I sometimes call them bamboos... Because they're that dumb and... STOP WRITING THIS DOWN!"
She tries to take my jornal.
Journal entry 549.
"Don't write things down in front of people. They'll try to take away my jornal."
An hour after school my mom picked me up.
"You need to stop asking about the beasts. The beasts are behind us; they are taking the books out of the libraries in a month. So new generations don't have to know anything about them. The beasts are gone forever so we don't need to learn about them any longer." She says.
We drive home and I go up to my room. I giggle un unbeknownst to her. I've known about the bann for months now and I convinced the librarian to let me buy the books from her library.
Ma and Mom come into my room.
"Hey sweetie we think it would be good if you do something to get your mind off of this whole unneeded chase to find out more about monsters you already know enough even more than a lot of adults know. So I think you should volunteer somewhere."
I roll my eyes.
"Fine mom and Ma, I'll volunteer at the mental hospital then."
"Okay sweetie whatever floats your boat. Love you sweetie." Ma says.
"Love ya Quin." Mom tells me.
They leave me to my thoughts.
I don't really care about it. But the people that 'know too much' go somewhere and that's my first guess. I'm finding out about them one way or another. They've kept the truth a secret for too long.
"Journal entry 550, Mental hospital is my first guess for all the missing women that 'Know too much' I will find out the truth."
