After enduring four more subjects, their last period finally dismissed them for the day.
Stacey and Jenna made their way towards Jenna's car in the parking lot, and drove off to the nearby Burger King to have lunch.
"What would you like?" Jenna asked as they reached the counter.
"Hmm," Stacey hummed, thinking. "I would like a double whopper, please. With extra fries. And a large diet coke."
"Wow," Jenna said sardonically. "Can't you get anything more expensive than that?"
"Hey hey hey, you've no right to complain." Stacey said. "You promised, 'Your choice, my treat.'" She air-quoted.
"And you seem to be enjoying yourself." Jenna snapped. She sighed. "Alright, fine. Remind me to never offer you something like this ever again.
"Aww, I knew you couldn't resist me." Stacey said sweetly. "You order our food, I'll find us a table."
"Okay."
Stacey immediately found a booth near the window. She slid in and placed her backpack beside her. Drumming her fingers on the table while waiting for Jenna, she began thinking about everything that has happened to her this morning. Starting with the fact that she can't bear anymore of Jessica's mean attitude. How she had the misfortune to be saddled with her, she has no way of knowing. Stacey would have liked nothing more than to move out and find another dorm, but the first semester has already started and every affordable dormitory would undoubtedly be occupied by now.
And after Jessica, there's that guy she collided with. What was his name again? Trevor? Tristan? Well, whatever his name is, he better not show his face to her ever again. She has never been a fan of guys with skateboards.
Although, if they had met in other circumstances, she would probably have had an instant crush on him. The guy's handsome, she'll give him that.
But leather jacket-wearing skaterboys have never been her type. She prefer someone smart-looking, without being too much nerdy. She also likes guys who have leader potential and has a love for reading, just as she does. Someone who is easy to smile, funny, friendly, and intelligent. Someone like...
"Hello! Earth to Anastasia?" Jenna said loudly, waving her hand frantically in front of Stacey's face. Stacey snapped out of her dreamy reverie and stared at Jenna blankly. "Huh?" She asked dumbly.
"I've been here for a minute now and you didn't notice me. What's the matter?" She asked, sliding into the seat across from her.
"N-nothing." Stacey said, shaking her head.
For a moment, Jenna stared at her. Then she shrugged. "Okay."
"How's aunt Meg, by the way?" Stacey asked, trying to shake out the thoughts forming in her head. No I won't think about him, no I won't think about him...
"Oh, mom's fine. A bit busy in the office though." Jenna answered. Jenna's mom, Megan, is an accountant at Robin and Sons, Co. One of the reasons Jenna took up Accountancy is because she admires her so much.
Even though Jenna and Stacey aren't related, Jenna's mom always insists that Stacey should call her aunt Meg.
"We're going to shop for groceries later, wanna tag along?" Jenna asked, taking french fries from Stacey's plate.
"I'd love that." Stacey agreed. "That beats staying in my room having to endure Queen of Mean for the whole evening."
"Great!" Jenna said happily. "I'll just inform my mom that you're coming with us." Then she fished out her phone and began texting.
