Ella's POV
I spent all week playing the guitar Niall left for me. It was nicer than anything I'd ever played before, and the girls could hardly get me to put it down.
Saturday had rolled around again, and I was sitting on the common room couch playing the song I was working on for the other girls.
"It's really nothing special" I said, fiddling with the guitar's strings.
"Oh just play it already El" said Brooke, and the others nodded in agreement.
"Okay but you can't make fun of me because it's not done and I'm really still not sure if-"
"Oh my god Ella" said Kennedy interrupting me, much louder than Brooke had been. "We make fun of you anyways, play the damn song."
I let out a small laugh, then took a breath and started to play.
(song: Pancakes For Dinner by Lizzy McAlpine)
Don't wanna be forward
Don't wanna cross a line
But if I were to crash in this plane tonight
I'd want you to know this
Don't wanna say too much
Intrude on your space
But if I were to crash and I never made it home
I'd want you to know this
Oh, and to tell you is too scary
So I'll just say something else
And I wish that you could hear me
When I talk to myself
But this plane might not land safely
So, what the hell do I have to lose
If I just tell you?
I wanna eat pancakes for dinner
I wanna get stuck in your head
I wanna watch a T.V. show together
And when we're under the weather we can watch it in bed
I wanna go out on the weekends
I wanna dress up just to get undressed
I think that I should probably tell you this
In case there is an accident
And I never see you again
So please save all your questions for the end
And maybe I'll be brave enough by then
Don't wanna say something wrong
Don't wanna be weird
But if you're still in love with her
I think that I'll leave it there
And I won't ever tell you this
Oh, 'cause to tell you is too scary
So I'll just say something else
Like how was fall semester?
And what was that song about?
I'll try to hide the way I feel
But I'll just wanna shout
What do I have to lose right now?
I wanna eat pancakes for dinner
I wanna get stuck in your head
I wanna watch a T.V. show together
And when we're under the weather we can watch it in bed
I wanna go out on the weekends
I wanna dress up just to get undressed
I think that I should probably tell you this
In case there is an accident
And I never see you again
So please save all your questions for the end
And maybe I'll be brave enough by then
Well, maybe I won't ever say what's in my head
No, I won't have to say anything
You'll say it insteadAs I finished, I heard clapping behind me, and turned around to see One Direction standing in our common room once again.
"I see you're putting that guitar to good use" said Niall, who was chuckling at how startled I looked. My face turned bright red as Kennedy said back to him, "she practically sleeps with that thing."
"Well you're insanely talented Ella," said Zayn "that song is beautiful."
I blushed again and muttered a thanks, then asked "what are you guys doing back here?" trying to change the subject.
"Well," said Liam "we actually wanted to talk to you girls again. You're all so amazing and kind despite everything you've gone through, and we were just so touched by your stories and your spirits." I glanced over at the other girls, who looked just as confused as I was. "What Liam is trying to say," said Louis, "is that we came back because we wanted to do something for all of you. Kennedy, Brooke, and Hannah," he continued, nodding at the three of them, "we know you're all about to turn 18, and we wanted to help you pay for school." All of our eyes grew wide at that, and the boys smiled excitedly at our reactions. "We know that there are already scholarships in place for New Hope girls, but we just wanted to make sure you didn't have to worry about paying for college. You've been through enough already, and it's the least we could do to help you girls out" continued Louis.
Kennedy was the first to process exactly what he was saying, and jumped up to hug them, shouting "thank you thank you thank you" over and over. The other girls were quick to follow her lead, smiling wide and tearing up as they hugged the boys. College had always been something that they talked about, but had never thought they would be able to actually afford. Sure, there were scholarships, but it was never quite enough to make it a real possibility for us.
"And," said Harry turning to face me, "don't think we forgot about you little one." I looked at him confused. "You're not quite old enough for college, and quite frankly, much to talented to stick around here for the next three years." I let out a nervous laugh, not fully comprehending what he was trying to say. Niall sat down on the couch next to me, and said with a serious look on his face, "Ella, what we do, singing and touring all over the world, you could do it too you know." Now I was really confused, and looked at him like he was crazy. "I really don't think I understand" I said, looking from the girls to the boys.
"We want to help you record your songs and get your music out there," said Liam. "But only if that's what you want. You're amazing Ella, and the world deserves to hear your voice."
"You'd come on tour with us," said Harry, "hang out backstage and see what it's like, and then record your music along the way."
I smiled wide at him in disbelief. There was no way that this was all real. One Direction, famous boy band, was asking me to go on tour with them. "You're kidding" I said, looking at the five boys waiting for one to tell me it was a joke. "Not at all," chuckled Niall, "what'd you say? Want to come on tour with us?"
I sat there for a second, processing what was happening. Then, as it sunk in, I stood up smiling and shaking with excitement. "Yes yes yes a MILLION times yes" I practically shouted, running to hug the five boys who had just changed my life completely.
I stood there hugging them, a million thoughts running through my head, but all of them coming back to one thing: I was going on tour with One Direction.
a/n: Hey! Somewhat short chapter, but hopefully it's a good one! I think I'm going to make a spotify playlist to go along with the story, so stay tuned for that :)
