Elaine's fathers were upset.
No, upset wasn't the right word. Upset was for when you were sad, but you knew that you would feel okay, eventually.
Upset was not for when your 17 year-old daughter got hurt in a car crash. Upset was not for when you spent the last week praying to anyone who might listen that you could see your daughter grow up, get her degree (she loved learning so much), maybe even get married and have kids (although, that depended on what she wanted).
Upset could not possibly convey how a parent could feel when they had to say goodbye to their sky, their sun, their everything in between.
Upset wasn't enough of a word to describe how they felt planning the funeral of their child.
