Derek had been missing for a few days now. Cora had told me that it was a natural instinct to hide underground when the hunters come and whilst I wanted to go and find him I was also aware that he needed to be alone. I hadn't gotten much sleep myself either. The first time I closed my eyes a horrible face entered my vision. I had thought that I was awake at first but then after some screaming and truly waking up I'd come to the realisation that it was all in my head. It wasn't just a normal face though. It was one that you hear about in nightmares.
"I was thinking we should tell dad about everything that's been going on," Stiles said, and I raised my brow trying to ignore the ache in my head. I didn't understand it. I thought werewolves were supposed to never get sick and yet in this moment I'd never felt more sick. Like I was going to pass out at any second. Sighing, I rested my head on my hand and my elbow on my knee - I was sat on Stiles bed watching him. "He's going to be home any minute now."
"So...we're....going to tell him about a whole supernatural realm? As in... werewolves and werewolves..." I couldn't think about anything else, everything felt so painful. I couldn't remember the last time I'd felt so weak. So powerless and ill, so human.
Noah soon walked in and he looked between us confused, "what's going on."
"We have something to tell you. Okay, okay, okay, okay..." Stiles began, trying to figure out what he was supposed to be saying, "yes! Okay. Nooo, oh..." he couldn't work it out. Every time he thought of something it seemed to slip his mind, and I couldn't help but agree. How were you supposed to begin this conversation?"
"Stiles?" Noah asked.
"Dad, I'm sorry, okay? I'm just... I'm trying to... I'm just trying to figure out how to start, here..."
"Hey, I don't have this kind of time."
"We know, it's just... it's difficult," I admitted.
"Um... For the last year, you've had all these cases that you couldn't figure out, right? I mean, all the murders involving Kate Argent, and then Matt killing all the people that drowned him, and all these murders right now! It's like-It's like you've been playing a losing game," Stiles explained and you could see Noah's frown. He was getting impatient and annoyed and I understood. He'd always hated everything unless there was hard cold evidence.
"Stiles, the last thing I need right now is a job performance review from my own son-"
"I know, okay? See, but that's..."
"The reason you've been losing the game is because you've never been able to see the whole board," I cut in, chess was arguably the only thing I really knew how to do.
"Exactly!" Stiles said, "I need to show you the whole board," he said and Noah sighed as Stiles got out a collection of post-it-notes and grabbed onto the chess pieces.
It was a lengthy explanation and with each passing second I felt more ill and eventually just watching the pieces and the colours on the paper was horrible. Why was it so bright?
"Scott, Grace, and Derek are Werewolves?"
"Yes!"
"And Kate Argent was a Werewolf?"
"Hunter," Stiles corrected as he pointed at the correct piece, "that's-- purple's "Hunter.""
"Along with Allison and Chris Argent," I added on and Stilinski looked at me completely aghast with what was happening.
"Yeah," he sighed over, "And... and my friend Deaton, the veterinarian, is a Kanima?"
"Well, no. No, no, no, no. He's a Druid, okay?" Stiles corrected again, and I couldn't help but sigh. I wanted to go to sleep. My bed was calling to me like it never had before. "Well, we think."
