"Our soldiers are almost ready to depart for our raids in the east." Alcander said bowing down to the scowling King."Very well, depart then." Gilgamesh said sighing of boredom.
"If I'm not over stepping, my men are in need of more cooks and care takers while on our journey. It would be of great help if you could spare a servant." He said slightly sweating, for he did not know how the King would respond.
"Well I have many servants. Rachel come here." Gilgamesh motioned his hand to beckon her to his side.
"Yes my King?"
"Taylor is free most of the time is she not?" He asked
Rachel's heart froze. She did not want her baby sister to go with the raid soldiers. She would be at risk of rape, death, and disease.
"Y-yes." She shakily said choking back tears.
"Then it's settled she will go with you, and if you need a cook go ahead and take whatever you need." Gilgamesh said as he stood up. "Be gone Alcander. I must get prepared for dinner."
Alcander bowed his head and left the room. His footsteps echoing in the air.
Rachel blinked back hot tears as they tortured her eyes. Gilgamesh glanced back at her and saw her distressed face.
Gilgamesh knew why. But chose to leave it be for the time. She would have to get over it.
Gilgamesh stood up and Rachel followed silently. She didn't dare speak her mind after what happened earlier.
Finally she got the courage to break the unnerving silence. "M-my king. I must go to the kitchen to see if the food is being prepared." She squeakedHe glanced at her beautiful face, her sadness spreading to him. His heart would always have a soft spot for her. Her cheeks were flushed from crying. The guilt creeped into his soul.
"Very well, do what you want." He said quietly
Quickly he started to say something, but froze. She looked at him curiously, but her curiosity hastily turned to sadness.
Silently she walked out of the room.
"Damn why do I freeze when I see her like this. I need her to know I'll take care of her. But I can't, the words just don't form." Gilgamesh exclaimed in frustration.
He slightly blushed thinking about her. "What's wrong with me. I am a king, so why do I get weak when I think of her?"
Taylor:
Taylor hastily packed a small bag of clothes and belongings. She was so excited to leave the palace and be with her love Alcander.
Then reality struck her. She would have to leave behind two very important people. Rachel, Grace, and Emily. "It's not like we are going to be separated for forever! I'll see them again!" She said hopefully.
Finally all packed she ran down the corridor and saw Alcander at the end of it waiting with open arms.
"You were gonna leave without saying goodbye?"
Taylor stopped in her tracks. She turned around to see Grace and Emily standing there in tears. Rachel appeared behind her as well.
"I-I thought it would be easier." Taylor said bowing her head in shame.
"This isn't going to be easy what so ever." Rachel said quietly.
Taylor's eyes filled with tears as she ran to her older sisters. The three embraced each other in a bittersweet moment.
"I'm sorry, b-but I have to do this. I need to. I want to be free. Free from this cruel kingdom. Now is my chance to be happy, with Alcander." She said wiping her tears.
"Don't worry about feeling sorry! Go have fun!" Emily said with a warm smile.
"Just be safe. We will see each other again." Grace said lovingly.
"I love you guys!" Taylor said once again hugging her sisters.
"We love you too sis." Emily said
"I love you Taylor, good luck on your journey!"
"Thank you! I feel like this is meant to be. We will see each other again. And we will all be changed I'm sure!"
Taylor waved as Alcander took her hand , and they rode with the battalion into the distance.
