A short Gothic story I wrote in English. Warning there is no happy ending it starts horribly and ends horribly.

Simply children have been going missing in a small village every night. This is a point of view of one of the victims. I would say enjoy but...

~

I stepped outside into the cold, dark night. The wind blew right through my nightgown chilling my bones. It's always cold in my village not to mention quite scary in the night time. It's always quiet, too quiet except for the howling winds. Even during the day people are afraid, they fear for the children that have gone missing! Lured into the darkest part of the woods. Becoming a victim of what lies in there. I should not be out but a sweet, cold voice is whispering lovely melodies in my head and I can't seem to control myself. I feel as if I'm in a daze, in a dream but the dirt feels real enough under my petite bare feet. The songs in my head are telling me sweetly to go down to the dark woods. Part of me is trying to resist but the other part is urging me on. The street is empty tonight as usual, not a soul in sight so no one will see me go. I'll just disappear like the other little children. But I do not care the pure serenade has taken over now, I have been overcome by her song, the siren is calling to me and I must obey, I must follow her call. The ice wind blew my hair in my face so I couldn't see but I don't need to I know the song will lead me to safety.

The branches look like crippled hands ready to tear at my flesh but the siren won't let them because I'm her friend, I think... Yes, I am, she will keep me protected from outside danger but can she protect me from herself? Of course she will she is my friend she will never hurt me. So I kept walking my feet getting blisters and cuts, the siren says my blood smells very nice. She will help me heal them. Then a rustle in a bush caught my attention and a bat flew at my head and I screamed my lungs out running towards her call.

"Help me." I whimpered and she sang louder in my head and I immediately felt relaxed. I finally reached a gloomy lake where naked trees surrounded tilting forward as if they were also listening to her song.

Come near the lake young one where you can peacefully sleep while I sing you lullabies. I did as she requested and sat at the edge dipping my sore feet into the cold water. I laid back and closed my eyes and let the lullaby consume me. I felt a cold scaly hand grip my ankle but I'm too sleepy to do anything, then another hand gripped my other ankle.

"Lily! Lily! Come back don't listen to the songs!" I heard someone yell but they are so far away and it's too late. I am pulled into the water finally waking up and realising I'm in danger but there's nothing I can do. The water is burning my lungs! I can't breathe! I'm struggling to swim but I never learnt how. Then I felt something sink into my leg like teeth. I tried to scream but more water came in and then the siren showed her face. She's ugly and scaly and has black eyes that are looking at me hungrily. The last thing I saw was all her sharp white teeth before it all went black.
