Keiji's birthday was just around the corner. He would finally be able to drive on his own, which was more pleasing than it sounded, as his legs got extremely tired from walking from place-to-place. Keiji sat at his desk, looking out the window. The sun stood brightly in the afternoon sky. The bell would ring soon for lunch, and he didn't feel the need to do his homework in class, as he had the week's homework done already. The bell finally rung, and the sound of chatter amongst students and zippers being zipped sounded in Keiji's ears.

Keiji walked out of the classroom and walked to his favorite spot on the school's grounds- The large, broad oak tree, looming over the playground and track. It stood lonely on a hill, but Keiji kept it company. He sat down on the soft green grass and began to eat. He saw 3 people walking towards him, and he suspected they were bullies until Keiji saw a slightly familiar face. The boy that he ordered coffee from every day from the coffee shop near his home. Bokuto was his name, or at least the boy's name tag from the shop said so.

Bokuto was accompanied by another man, a thick, defined jawline with messy black hair, who seemed to be dragging another person, Keiji wasn't aware of the gender, but they seemed to not care. Bokuto skipped over to Keiji.

"Hey, hey, hey!!" Bokuto smiled warmly.

"Hello, Bokuto-san," Keiji replied.

"Can we sit with you.. Uh, what's your name, again? You look really lonely!"

"Oh, it's Keiji. Keiji Akaashi," Akaashi nodded to Bokuto's question and the three sat down around Keiji, almost forming a circle.

"This is Kuroo, my best friend!" Bokuto said, gesturing towards the tall black bedhead.

"And this is Kenma. He's not very social," Kuroo hugged the other boy tightly, but Kenma seemed to not like it, as he mumbled angrily.

Kenma had yellow-blonde hair, all up until the roots of his hair, which were brown. His hair went down past his ears, almost touching his shoulders. Kenma had yellow cat-like eyes that stared at his phone, and he was obviously playing some game on it.

"Kitten, can you please socialize, just a little bit?" Kuroo asked Kenma.

"Don't call me that, Kuro," Kenma muttered. His voice was soft, but pleading. "There, I spoke.."

"Awww, but it's so fun to say, Ken-Ken~," Kuroo grinned as he grabbed Kenma's phone out of his hands. "Just for this period, okay?"

"Kuro, give it back," Kenma pleaded, trying to grab his phone back, but Kuroo held it above his head.

"One lunch period and you'll be able to game without me for the rest of the night, okay, Kitten?"

Kenma muttered to himself before finally nodding. He leaned into Kuroo's chest as he quietly ate a few fruit snacks, but only the red ones.

"Are you two dating yet?" Bokuto asked, rolling his eyes.

"No, sadly. Ken-Ken won't let me have him." Kuroo pouted.

"Maybe if you weren't a jerk-" Kenma began to protest.

"Shhhh." Kuroo put his finger to Kenma's lips.

"But you just told him to socialize-" Keiji questioned.

"This is what it's like every day, Akaash," Bokuto grinned.

The three continued to talk nonsense while Keiji studied them, noting their personalities as they talked. The four continued to meet up for lunch at the same spot for the week until Keiji's birthday rolled around. He invited the three over to his house for a sleepover party to celebrate while Keiji's parents thought it was a childish wish. The party was fine, and by 11:00, Kuroo and Kenma were snuggled next to each other, fast asleep. Bokuto was still awake, still admiring Keiji's simple room, which only consisted of a single bed, a bookcase full of various books and a few collectibles, a desk, and a small closet.

"It's not much," Akaashi whispered, not wanting to wake up Kuroo or Kenma.

"No, no," Bokuto whispered back, "Its cute."

"Cute?"

"Because it's simple and shows.. well, you." Bokuto smiled over at Akaashi.

Akaashi blushed. "Thank you, Bokuto-san.."

Bokuto didn't say anything, but instead scooted closer to Akaashi and hugged him. Akaashi hugged back.

"Good night, Bokuto-san," He whispered as he laid down, snuggling into his blanket, then ended up quickly falling asleep.

Now 15, Keiji was able to finally see a string that would attach him to his soulmate. He awoke at exactly 7:00 the next morning, and his eyes immediately widened as he saw where his string was connected- or, whom, it was connected to.

Bokuto.

Laying on the floor, still fast asleep.. Keiji couldn't believe it. Bokuto, his friend for a few years now- Was his soulmate?
