Vieve POV
Two weeks had passed since Donald had apologized and nothing went back to normal. I'm sure the busy schedules we have don't help but it feels like it'll never be like it was before. When he wasn't in a class, he was practicing. When I wasn't in class, I was either running errands for the Trebles or helping them fundraise. There wasn't any time to just be us; the final competition was a month away and we had just found out the Bellas had been put back in after it was revealed that the Footnotes who won second place didn't follow the rules and instead enlisted a high schooler to sing.
I had been the one to reveal the news to the rest of the Treblemakers. As soon as the Bellas had found out, they had blown up my phone telling me about it. We were just waiting for Bumper to get back to the Treble house before we decided if anything was going to change for us. They were chilling in the hot tub and I felt uncomfortable about being in a hot tub with a bunch of half-naked guys. I was sitting on the back of the couch, listening to their conversation and chiming in when I feel like it.
"So obviously, Captain America would be easier to sleep with," Greg said, prompting several groans from different people. Somehow this was an argument that had lasted the whole time and they had yet to make a decision. It started as a joke but somehow turned into a serious discussion.
"For the last time," Donald said, messing with his shower cap, "a great white shark would be easier." When they first started arguing about this, I thought that Donald was joking. He wasn't. His argument had some points to it, but not enough to make sense.
"No-"
Bumper burst in through the door, stopping Unicycle from defending Greg. He spread his arms, making sure all attention was on him. "Trebles, listen up!" he exclaimed. There was no way this was about the Bellas. He wouldn't be this excited.
"If this is about the Bellas getting into the finals, we already know," Donald said, sounding suspicious. He probably had the same thought as I did.
"I don't give a crap about those dumb bitches," Bumper snapped. I saw at least two people flinch, used to this tone being accompanied by an insult. "Because I'm being brought up to the musical big leagues."
"What are you talking about?" Donald gave me an 'oh no' look. Bumper has to be abandoning the Trebles. I know it, Donald knows it, the rest of them know it.
"John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant to sing backup on his new CD!" Bumper practically sang. He pretended to be surprised at what time it is. "I leave for Los Angeles in a few hours, so I gotta get going!"
I clapped politely, ignoring how I was the only one. "That's great! Congratulations!" I cheered, knowing he would be expecting someone to be excited. Everyone else stared at him silently.
"But... Bumper," Kolio started quietly grabbing everyone's attention, "what about the ICCAs? They're this weekend." I'm proud of him for asking the question that we were all wondering, but were afraid to ask.
"Sorry buddies," Bumper said, "but I won that shit like 100 times, so I'm out of here." Even though I knew he was going to leave, I still felt sick hearing him say it. Everyone else had a look on their face that said they felt the same. "Got a collarless leather jacket to buy. Maybe some aviators. I might get an earring, I don't know! It's Los Angeles. This is exciting stuff. My life RULES!"
He pranced out of the room, dragging the suitcase that I hadn't noticed behind him. We stared at each other in stunned silence before Unicycle cleared his throat.
"Bumper's a jerk. All right, I said it," Unicycle declared. I giggled at how he said it and to distract myself from how mad I was.
"Yeah, well he's a jerk that we need to replace," Donald said. Jesse perked up like he knew someone who would work. I knew someone too, but that would require me cashing in a favor that I'd rather keep for an emergency.
"Yeah,"
"You know he writes his own fan mail?" Someone said. That got my attention.
"Wait, wait, wait... you guys get fan mail?" I nearly shouted. Do they? This is something I need to know.
"I mean," Greg shrugged. "No, but Bumper wrote his own and pretended it was from someone else."
"I know someone who could take Bumper's place," Jesse offered, stopping my next question about the fan mail.
