"Ghosts? Ghosts don't exist, Reineia! I've told you a thousand times already, ghosts do not exist!"
I winced a little while my friend Sadie spoke, her voice increasing in volume with every word.
"THEY. DO. NOT. EXIST."
I closed my eyes, then slowly opened them. Taking a deep breath, I turned to Sadie, in one last attempt to make her understand exactly what is happening to me.
"Sadie-", I started, but she cut me off.
"Rein, I love you, you are like a sister to me, but this - this is crazy! I know watching your grandma pass away really hurt you, and I'm sorry, but this is all in your head! There is no way these visions can be for real! I think you just haven't been able to let go of your grandma, and that's the reason these dream things keep popping up! I'm so sorry, but this is too much for me. I mean, ghosts and dreams and visions? No, I can't. I'm sorry."I stared in shock at Sadie. Here she was, my best friend, my confidante, partner - in - crime and everything else a person could be, here she was, unbelieving of me.
I sat there, just staring at her. I couldn't speak - what are you supposed to say to the one person you would trust with your life when they turn their back on you?
Then my anger appeared, exploding like a volcano would when the lava has been bubbling under the surface for too long.
I looked Sadie dead in the eye, my eyes shooting daggers at her from across the room.
" Leave", I said, my voice as harsh and unforgiving as the cold winter winds.Sadie gasped at me, shock visibly written all over her face.
" Rein, I know that you're angry, and I'm sorry - "" You're sorry?" I interrupted. " After all we've been through, the one time I need your help the most, all you can say is SORRY?!" I screamed.
Sadie flinched, her mouth opening and closing like a fish, as if she wanted to say something but kept deciding against it. Honestly, I would be doing the same thing if I wasn't so upset with her. I was the good cop - calm, cool, collected.
"Reineia...", Sadie whispered.
"Just go," I said, with all of the strength I could muster.
Sadie got up and walked over to my bedroom door, gave me one last look, then walked out, the door shutting behind her with a resounding click.
