"You promised me." Lumine said. Kody glanced over at him. The knife sticking out of his stomach was making every movement painful. "I know I did." He muttered. Lumine stood and stared down at Kody with eyes filled with discontent. "What?" Kody snapped, trying to turn away. "Why did you break your promise?" Kody stared into Lumine's eyes. He had always loved them. Something about them always captured him, kept him locked on them.
He never wanted to escape from the blue deep ness of his ocean like eyes. The yellow of the sun hiding playfully on the surface of his eyes. Kody snapped out of it, shaking his head. "I don't know." He said calmly, spitting out some blood. "Yes, you do." Kody was irritated now. "I. don't. Know." He spat, coughing up more blood. Lumine stared once more, the love and life in his eyes emptying out slowly. "...bye, Kody." Lumine said, turning and walking away. Kody laughed.
"Aren't you gonna take your knife? Wouldn't want anyone finding out it was you who killed me." Kody darkly said, coughing even more blood up as he began to twist and pull on the knife. "..." Lumine paused at the end of the alleyway before turning and staring at Kody. "I don't think they'd mind much. Seeing as I killed something worthless. They might not even investigate." Kody flinched at Lumine's words. Lumine turned and walked off, heading straight towards the middle of the road.
Kody instantly knew what he was going to do. "LUMI-ack-LUMINE-!" Kody screamed, hoping he'd turn around, that he'd come back apologizing, or just get out of the fucking road. But it was pointless. Lumine stood in the middle of the road as cars zoomed by. "LUMINE!" Kody called. He watched as Lumine turned and smiled at him, his eyes full of sadness. "Kody." He mouthed. Kody flinched as Lumine was hit by a semi, his body flying out of view.
Kody noticed something laying where Lumine had stood. He crawled towards the road, having to get to it, he needed it, he just knew it. He managed to get to the road. "Oh my god!" Someone screamed. He knew it was either about him, or about Lumine. He didn't care either way. He was grateful that the cars had stopped zooming by, all having stopped after Lumine was hit. Kody crawled to the middle of the road, ignoring the pain of the knife in his stomach. He stared at the piece of paper lying there. He grabbed it, unfolding it. His eyes welled with tears as he read the words.
"Dear Kody. I like you. I don't know if you know this, but today I saw you and Calla together. I saw her kiss you. I saw you not pull away. Then you got attacked. You didn't call for me. You broke our promise. Why? I love you, Kody. But a promise is a promise. Now I have to break you. And I know exactly how to do that."
Kody stared at Lumine's body. His limbs were twisted in impossible positions and he was so bloody Kody almost didn't recognize him. "...." Kody realized that this was the end. Everything was darkening and he couldn't even feel his hands anymore. He turned so he wouldn't lay on the knife and slowly closed his eyes. At least they would be together while they were dead.. When the police and ambulances showed up they would surely put them together, right? Kody smiled. "...yeah..." He murmured. "Together."
