All four of us sat down at an Italian restaurant. I sat across from Mason and Marianna sat across from Nick. "Ciao! Welcome to Italiano! Have you been here before?" the waiter said enthusiastically.
"Well, I have. I do believe that these lovely girls have been here also." said Nick winking at Marianna. Of course, she instantly started blushing and twirling her long ombre hair.
We ordered all our food and drinks and we all started talking. It was very awkward at the beginning, but eventually we all felt so comfortable around one another. Then, our food came. Marianna got chicken alfredo just like Nick of course. Mason got parmesan chicken, and I got spaghetti and meatballs. I kept eating my food until I got close to the bottom of the bowl.
"You look gorgeous today. And sorry about staring at you earlier. I couldn't resist. Your blue eyes are mesmerizing." Is he talking to me?
"Wow thanks. No one really ever tells me tha-" Before I could finish my sentence I noticed a strange message at the bottom of my bowl. I just stared at it and my eyes started to tear up.
"What's wrong ?" Mason was really worried. I just looked up at him wand ran to the bathroom with the tears flowing down my cheeks.
Marianna knocked on the stall door. "Bailey?! What's wrong?? Mason is really worried. B?" I unlocked he stall door and let her in. She wrapped her arms around me and squeezed me tight. "Please tell me what happened. I really want to help. "
"Well," I was trying not to start crying again, "there is a note on the bottom of my pasta bowl."
"What did it say?"
I handed it to her. It read:
"Oh honey. don't think that Mason likes you. He likes me. He would never like a nasty loser like you. you're to ugly for him. Watch your back."Marianna started to get angry. "Why would someone ever do this to you?! This is the most absurd thing I've ever seen! I can't believe someone has the nerve to mess with my best friend!! Argh!" Marianna took my hand and lead me out of the bathroom. Mason ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug. It made me feel so special.
"What happened? Are you okay? Stop crying, you'll be okay." Marianna gave him the note. He read it, his eyes filled up with disgust and tears. I saw a tear roll down his face, and I wiped it away.
He just looked into my eyes and kissed me. "It doesn't matter what that person is saying, I love you."
