Eren POV.
Everyone left shortly after the girl disappeared back into the wall. Mikasa and Jean came out stating my room was ready. Levi left me on the couch with my book to “go make sure they did everything properly.” Apparently they hadn’t. He yelled “What a fucking mess.” Before it went silent.
I saw him come out with a mask on. He grumbled as he went to collect a tray of cleaning supplies. Curious now, I pulled myself up from the couch. Using the cane in one hand and the couch with the other I got around it to walk down the hall. I leaned on the door frame to watch him.
To me the room was immaculate. I had never seen anything cleaner. Yet Levi was on his hands and knees scrubbing under the bed. He moved meticulously over the floor spraying and wiping at the shiny surface. I choked on a laugh when he sprayed at a bug on the wall. His steel eyes turned to me.
“What the hell are you doing on your feet, brat?” he growled.
“Watching an insane runt scrub a very clean room.” I stated. He climbed to his feet. Ripping off the gloves and mask he threw them into a bucket. Menacingly he approached me.
“You think I’m insane?” his tone was deadly calm. I could only nod swallowing the fear that rose up in me. Before I knew what was happening he had me pinned against the wall.
“Better men than you have called me that.” I was looking down at him, and was still terrified by the look in those eyes. “You're lucky, I like you…” With that his hand on the wall slipped around my neck. His other one pressed against my chest as he went up on his tip toes.
He pulled my head down. At first I thought it was to put our heads together. My eyes widened when his lips covered my own. I sighed into him. My hands went to his waist on their own accord. I pressed my lips against his wanting more than just the kiss. I parted them just to see what he would do.
His hand on my neck grabbed a fistful of my hair. Groaning his tongue jutted into my mouth. It circled around my own. I barley got a  taste of him. The hand on my chest pushed in hard as he tried to break away from me. No, I wasn’t done with him. Preventing him from escaping I pressed my hand against his back. My other one went to his butt pulling him up off of his feet.
“Fucking brat.” He hissed as he thrust his lips back against mine. Both his hands now fisted into my hair. His legs went around my waist. I caught his tongue sucking it back in my mouth. He tasted like tea. I slid my tongue over his as I gripped his bottom tightly. He moaned pressing his hips against mine.
Neither of us remembered I could barley walk. Holding my own weight on my legs was difficult for me. Adding his to it, my legs couldn’t take it. As they began to buckle, Levi realized what was happening. He flung himself away from me, catching me as I descended to the ground. He knelt beside me. A tender hand stroked my face.
“I’m sorry, I never should have…” I grabbed the front of his shirt. Yanking him to me, I kissed him once more. Hell I was already on the floor. Attempting to force him back on to my lap was harder than it should be. He relented in allowing the kiss but pulled away.
“No, Eren, no.” he breathed sounding more like a drowning man gasping for his last breath. He pulled away rising to his feet. Pacing to the end of the hall he ran a hand through his hair. When he turned to look back at me, the steel had melted.
“I never should have brought you here.” He whispered. His eyes shinning in agony.
“I would have died if it weren’t for you.” I told him. His hand ran down his face.
“I’m so tired of fighting to stay away from you. This this was a bad idea.” He left me there on the floor. Rushing out the door. I pondered where he went. After a few minutes of no one coming I decided to try and stand on my own.
I managed to get to my knees before arms came around my waist to pull me up to my feet. Erwin leaned me against the wall. “Where did he go?” he asked Bending to pick up my cane while keeping one hand on my chest.
“Don’t know.”
“Why'd he leave?” his blue eyes intense. I sighed.
“He kissed me. When I kept it up he said something about not sure he should have saved me. Then that he was tired of staying away from me.” Erwin groaned.
“Come on, let’s get you seated. You see, you are exactly his type. Tall, dark, good looking and those eyes would drive anyone crazy.” He helped me back to the couch. “That being said, Levi doesn’t think he deserves what he wants. So he pushes it away. I am only allowed to stay in his life because I don’t let him shove me away.” He bopped my nose.
I laughed. “Point taken.” He smiled.
“See you are a smart kid. Just for future reference. He likes to go pout on the roof.” I saw the twinkle in his blue eyes.
“One would get up on the roof…?” I asked sticking out my bottom lip making a see saw motion with my hand. Erwin laughed.
“When one can actually walk and support his body weight.” He warned me. “Stay there. I'll go retrieve the little midget.” He winked at me. I sighed.
(Erwin POV)
The door closed behind me. Eren was content on the couch. My eyes went up to the celling. He had kissed him. How many times had he walked away, punished himself for what Kenny did to the boy? Eren was so much like… I shook my head. Kenny had seen it too. I thought as I moved toward the door at the end of the hall.
Had that bastard seen Eren in town. Found out who his parents were, then made sure they owed him something just to get to Levi? Or was it his father needed something from Kenny. He just happened to bring his boy with him one day. Either way Kenny saw him, knew Levi would die to save him. That fucker just couldn’t let him go. I punched the wall.
Sliding down it until I sat on the floor. Levi, the hell you've been through already. I know you’re punishing yourself for you slight. All you want is to be loved, but you just can’t take it. I leaned my head back to look up at the celling, my heart hammering in my chest. I envied Eren. He didn’t know just what he had in Levi. I did.
I've loved that little runt for well over half my life. I will love him until I die. Oh I know he doesn’t love me, not like that. That’s why I force myself to let him go sometimes. I know now I will never have him again. He deserves Eren. I will fight with all my strength, all my love for him, to get him to be happy. I will force it on his little runt head. Kenny is nothing compared to me.
My vow made, I climbed to my feet. Time to tear my heart out. Reaching up, I pulled the ladder down. The only way Levi could reach it was to run up the wall. It was a sight to see. I smirked. Stepping out on the roof, the darkness surprised me. No moon tonight. I moved with one hand against the wall until I reached the corner. There he sat.
Right on the edge. Feet dangling over it. How many times did he think about jumping off? I was pretty sure he was contemplating it now. “I would catch you. Your not that heavy to hold up.” I sighed. He didn’t turn, didn’t acknowledge me. I sank down to the pebble strewn roof top. My back against the ledge he was sitting on. Reaching up, I pried his hand from the death grip he had on the ledge. The only thing that was keeping him from launching himself to the cement below.
I kissed each finger, pressing the last kiss into his palm. “You kissed him. You gave in to your heart. There is nothing wrong with that, Levi." I whispered. “It sounded to me, he wanted more….”
“No, I can’t….” The pain in that voice was shattering my pounding heart. My love.
“You can, you will, we are over Levi. I will never touch you again.” I whispered. His tear stained face swung to look at me. I released his hand.
“For the first time since. I’ve met you; you are truly in love.”
“I can’t, Erwin. You know what will happen.” His voice was thick with tears. “I can’t take his life from him like that.”
“Don’t you think it’s his choice?” I asked. “I did some research on him, the kid was a prisoner. Subjected to the whims of his father. I think the man was insane. Many of the neighbors didn’t even know Eren lived in that house.”   Levi looked out over his domain.
“Just another reason I can’t lock him up here. I can’t chain him to me.” He whispered.
“He was home schooled. His mother taught him. He has no friends aside from our little Armin. Didn’t you find it odd how easily he adapted to life “locked up" here?” I demanded using my fingers to make the air quotes.
“He was hurt. He had to heal.”
“My God you will rationalize anything. The kid has lived a sheltered life. Worse than you.” Levi didn’t say anything. His knuckles weren’t gripping the ledge so tightly. Was that because he no longer had to fight the urge to jump?
“Levi, you gave him a life. You gave him freedom, friends people to talk to.” I went on. The fact he wasn’t trying to get me to leave was good. What else could I say to get him to go back to that kid on the couch?
“As I have planned, he can stay until he is healed.” Levi quietly stated.
“How long would it take me to heal if I’m the one that jumps?” the voice came out of the darkness. Levi spun; he was on his feet so quickly I feared he might fall by accident.
“Or if I fell off of the ladder going back down? I could break my back; my neck become wheelchair bound. Would you keep me then?” Eren stepped out of the shadows. He was leaning heavily on his cane. He looked thoroughly exhausted. The thought of him falling down the ladder may not be a far fetch. I sprang to my feet.
I knew Levi in his current state he wouldn’t go near the teen. I stepped toward him, reaching my hand out to steady him. It was shoved away. Levi leapt from the ledge to move between us. This fucking kid! I smirked as Levi hugged him buying his face in the boy’s shirt.
“You're a fucking brat.” I heard his muffled voice say. Eren patted his head.
“And you're pathetic. Even if you don’t deserve to be happy, don’t you think I do?” Slowly Levi lifted his head to look at him. The way his mouth hung open, eyes wide it was obvious he hadn’t thought of it that way.
“He doesn’t realize he can make anyone else happy.” I pointed out.
