The wind whipped furiously around  the deserted base, nothing left but broken down kataphrakts and human limbs. The wars between Mars and Earth had worsened in recent years and with Earth on the defensive and Mars nearing the turn for success, Earth needed a miracle.

A few miles of the coast of the deserted base flew Deucalion, a martian battleship occupied by terrans. It hovered over the sea, revealing it's splendor as if it were the best hidden  secret that had ever existed.

"I can't believe its been 5 years since that day," a girl with ebony hair said as she watched the deserted base fade into the distance of the big blue sea. She seemed older, more mature, yet her demeanor and personality remained that of an innocent school girls.

"Seems like it was just yesterday doesn't it Inko?" The girl looked back toward the boy with the bionic eye, his brown hair toussled around with the same rhythm of the wind, he too seemed mature and older, but then again he had always been like that.

"You loved her didn't you, Inaho, " Inko asked somberly, the memory of the girl with the long flowing blonde hair and the auspicious sky-blue eyes was a distant memory now.

"Whether or not I harbored feelings for her doesn't matter anymore, it's in the past" Inaho said, his voice clear yet monotone.

"Hey!"

"Hi." The brunette walked toward the pair confidently, her violet eyes softened and her lips formed a small smile, something that rarely happened since the death of her father.

"Inko... Lieutenant Yuki needs the data you collected from the latest battle between you and Blazing Discord."

"Oh! Alright, bye Inaho, bye Rayet!" The ravenette walked away, a smile adorning her face as she left the deck of the Deucalion, leaving the two alone.

"Inaho."

"Rayet."  The atmosphere was tense as the two glared at each other with a burning intensity. Things had been complicated between them since the incident a year back.

"Heh. So Inko was asking you about your little martian princess girlfriend huh?" Inaho winced slightly at her words, he hated being constantly reminded of the princess who had brought the slightest glimmer of light to his full life. For that, he was forever grateful.

"Are you jealous" he replied in a clever attempt to throw her off.

"N-No...Fuck off, will you. I was teasing," Rayet could feel her cheeks growing pink and her temper reaching it's peak.

"Stop then. Don't continue pestering where you know you're not wanted. You will never understand the way think."

"Ever since that day, you've been a total pain in the ass Inaho, God I get it...it's my fault for asseylum getting hurt and kidnapped for the second time. Yet, she's our new enemy and we're at war with the martians, we should be merciless, after all she lied to me," She scoffed and rolled her eyed at him, her breathing became heavy and her attitude towards became harsher.

"Honestly it seems to me like you'd make any excuse as long as it would justify your killing a martian, seems a little immature, don't you think?"

"You little..." Rayet lunged toward him, grabbing him by the collar, "I HATE martians, nothing will ever change that, not you, not your girlfriend, NO ONE! They're all the same...my....my Dad...he only wanted a better life for us...and this...this is what he got in return... They're all just horrible lying martian....I'm a horrible martian....one of them!!!!" She began to sob letting go of his collar slowly as he wrapped his arms around her to comfort her in a warm embrace.

"You're different, I think you keep forgetting that, but I'll continue reminding you..."

"I'm not different  Inaho, I'm the same as them, stop trying to convince yourself otherwise," Rayet chuckled bitterly unable to say another word before she quickly realized that he was uncomfortably close to her,"Inaho you can let me go now."

Inaho ignored her and held her closer, tighter than before, he felt warm and happy and much different than he did when he was around Asseylum. His world seemed to stop in this one frozen unfamiliar moment.

Rayet sighed slightly annoyed at the situation and pulled away from him, "I asked you to stop..."

"sorry." He muttered softly in his usual boring way. He looked down at her, but not in the same way he had before. It was a peculiar feeling, one of strange comfort and melancholy happiness.

"It's fine...I'm fine anyway..." she sighed heavily and looked back up at him, "I'm hungry, I want to go eat... wanna come?"

Inaho paused for a moment, then turned his attention to the big blue, he smiled slightly and shook his head, "I think I'll enjoy the sunset for a while more..."

"Suit yourself..."

"Rayet... You're not like them."

"Jeez give it a rest already will ya?"

"You're a rogue...a martian rogue..."

"Hm....I guess you're right in a sense... But that doesn't change anything." She said as she walked back into the battleship.

"It does, it makes you...different..." He whispered to himself as the sun continued to set against the colorful sky, something big was going to happen. Something that was to change his life indefinitely.
