First encounter

It was a week like any other, I woke up as normal late and scramble to get my phone from my dresser to turn off the alarm. Like clockwork there was a message from my best friend

*Text chat*

Lia- Let me guess, your late again

Lia- Victoria this isn't good!

Lia- Get to school now or so help me I will hurt you

Lia was arguably the most scary person I knew. She would argue over any time I was a second late to school or if I didn't do my homework on time. She was like the mum of our group even though she wasn't the oldest. She was the one you would go to if there was a problem and I went to her a lot.

I knew I had to hurry up and get to school, luckily my first class was with the English teacher who was coincidentally none other than my mother. Having a mum as a teacher had it's ups and downs but she always let me off if I was late. I had to rush in the shower and I ran out the door before even eating breakfast. I grabbed my skateboard from the driveway and within 5 minutes I was crashing into the classroom

"Ah Victoria nice of you to make it"

"Sorry I'm late Miss". Even though she was my mum and everyone knew, I still had to be polite during school hours. After apologising and bowing my head I went to sit next to Lia who was giving me a very bad death stare

"Your 5 minutes later than normal!" she shouted flicking me in the back of the head.

"And I bet you haven't eaten either"

"Um yes I have"

"What did you eat?"

"I had toast" I said sitting down after pulling my things out of my backpack and putting them on the table

"You don't like toast. You haven't eaten". My day normally started with Lia pestering me about eating and being late. It was nice to see she cared but it was also very scary

"Here" a girl said turning around in the seat in front of you

"Thanks Yuna"

"No worries, you need to eat for practise later. Remember we have a meeting 10 minutes before the ending of lunch"

"Thanks for reminding me, I'll be there". She gave me a smile before turning back around and talking to my other best friend, Chaeryeong. Her and Yuna were the youngest in the group with me following in front. They were always so energetic and fun to be around. Yuna was in the rugby team with me along with Yeji who wasn't in our English class. Chaeryeong and Lia weren't the most athletic so they normally watched whenever we had training.

"Are you ready for our math test next lesson Vic"

"Wha- Lia what math test"

"Do not tell me you forgot"

"I mean I can tell you but it would be lying"

"VICTORIA!". She slapped my wrist but this time was even harder and it left a red mark

"You were out again with him weren't you"

"We went out and then the math test stopped crossing my mind"

"Right". The tone of her voice was not angry but disappointed and for the rest of the lesson we sat there in silent. Occasionally she looked at me and shook her head. I'll admit it hurt but we were used to this kind of relationship. She knew I wasn't going to fail the test anyway because math was my strong point

As the class ended we all packed our things in our bags and made our way to the exit. My mum stopped me to wish me good luck on my test next lesson and I gave her a hug before walking out the door with my arm linked to Yuna

"You know Vic, just because your smart doesn't mean you can get away with not revising for your test"

"Well Yuna. I seem to do well without revising so I don't think I need it". As I said that sentence I instantly regretted it as my eyes locked with Lia and she gave a look that could kill anyone

"On second thought, I think revising for my tests is a great use of my time an..and"

"God she really scares you huh Vic"

"No Chaeryeong I'm not scared I'm looking out for my education"

"Whatever, good luck in your test you two and we'll see you at break in the usual spot"

"Sure thing" Lia said in a gentle tone before opening the door and pushing me inside first. Math was  the lesson I shared with my boyfriend and it was nice as we didn't normally see each other during school. It was also the lesson I shared with my worst enemy, Ryujin. She was as popular as me but in a different group. She too was part of the rugby team and the reason we were enemies was because we were always competing to be top place. I was team captain by one vote which made her even angrier. Some may say when we were little we were inseparable but friendships end at some point and this was a war.

"Hey babe"

"Hey Jin" I said giving him a kiss on the cheek. Jin was my boyfriend, we were seen as the power couple in school as we were both athletes and well known. He was in the same class as me but wasn't nearly as smart. The good thing was he got along well with my friends.

"If you ever think about keeping her so she misses time to revise for a math test again. I'll break you" Lia said sitting in front of us. We all knew she was being serious because she took school very seriously

"Glad to know you got someone looking out for you"

"Thank you, but she's right I do need to keep my grades up" I said giving him a sad look

"Well whenever we have a test we can have a study date. Lia can come too if she's not going to kill me"

"Not unless it's actually revision" she commented before shushing us both

Our teacher had handed us our tests and luckily I was good at this topic. Some of the questions I struggled on but overall I think I did really well and was relieved that not revising wasn't a problem

"So since we haven't got any more classes together" Jin said. "How about I pick you up from yours tonight and we go out

"No. She already has plans with me, Yuna, Chaer and Yeji"

"Lia I was going to say that. I'm sorry but I did already promise to hang out with the girls tonight. But I promise I'll text you later

"Well I did have you for the whole weekend so I suppose that's fair"

"I'll see you around the school. I lov-.." I had to contemplate saying it. Saying those three words which I hadn't used with anyone but my friends. It wasn't that I couldn't but those three words meant a lot and I wasn't sure if I was ready

"I'll miss you". I ended up saying and saw his facial expression drop for less than a second before he was happy again. He kissed me goodbye and walked off leaving me and Lia to walk to the outdoor area where our friends were all sat.

We walked outside and were nearing our table when

"What the hell!"
