Denara and I were married on the beach where we first meet. It was a tremendous occasion. Her family was there, as well as my father. Many friends of hers from college and our trip were there.
Many families from the Sea Court were there too. The servants were very helpful to set things up and wait on the people who were there for our marriage. Lady Oceana was there too. She looked stunning, with her chocolate brown hair and her cream-colored skin.
But Denara was even more stunning, in a gown of white and gold. For our honeymoon we went to the Malidves, with many treats for her.
My wedding presents for her was a pup, a crown of gold and silver, and many other things. That night she kissed me and said, "Do you promise me that you will tell me everything that happens and anything that troubles you?" And I told her yes. And she asked me what I was thinking, so I told her I was thinking about her, and how I was a very lucky man to have married her, and that any children we had would look like her.
She laughed and said that they would look like me. Truthfully, my mind was on Lady Oceana. She was my best friend. I confided everything in her. I trusted her with my life and Denara's. Several weeks later we returned to my kingdom, and Oceana asked me if I was still her best friend, and I told her that she would always be my best friend, and then she kissed me.
I knew that if Denara ever found out, she would leave me and never return. I told Oceana so, and she said, "Why would you pick her over me?" And I told her that Denara was my wife, and I loved her. And she asked me if I loved her more than her. And I told her that Denara was my wife, and I couldn't imagine life without her.
Every week, I would visit her, and I let her lead me on, even though my heart was with Denara. It continued like this for 2 months, uneventfully.
I planned on breaking the truth to Oceana that I couldn't continue when Denara was looking for me and saw us.
I saw it in her eyes that I had just broken my heart. I rushed after her, but she didn't want me. "I was wrong when I thought that you could ever love me. You only saw me every summer, but you could see Oceana every day." And she left.
I stayed away from people, and that's when I received a letter from her mother telling me that she was pregnant, and she wouldn't leave her room.
I waited for a week for my chance to convince her that I still loved her. She was standing at the edge of the water looking out, her hands lying on her swollen belly. She was as beautiful as I remembered.
"Denara," I whispered, and let my voice carry to her. "Poseidon?" She asked. I walked to her from the water. A tear spilled down her cheek, and I forced myself to keep walking. "Is this a dream?" She asked. "No, my love, it is not," I told her.
When I reached her, I kneeled down and grasped her hand. "I love you, my dearest, I let my fling with Oceana continue for too long, knowing that I would hurt you, lest you ever find out. I let myself believe that I could be happy with her when I am only truly happy with you." I said and kissed her hand.
"I want to wake up with you every morning, fall asleep with you at night, watch our child grow up, and grow old with you," I told her. "I want to be your everything." I finished, looking into her eyes. "I love you Denara, princess of the Oceans and Seas."
She leaned down and kissed me. "I love you, Poseidon. I have never not loved you." She said. She kissed me again, and I stood and wrapped my arms around her.
"You are my future, Poseidon. When I look to the future, there you are." She says. "As you are my future," I replied.
