MALACHI RUEDA HAD A HISTORY OF BEING ABLE TO KEEP A SECRET. Or, well, multiple secrets. Like, the fact that he was gay. In certain foster homes. He had never spoken about it. And in others, he had.
There was one secret he never told any foster home parent or sibling, (until the Rueda family. Even then, it was only Diego) that he was a supernatural, magic being. Called a Kanay. Although, he didn't know much of it, other than that.
When Malachi was born, his birth parents were being hunted. His birth mother, after having given birth to him, demanded for her husband to run away, save those new born child. That, she would catch up to them, kill the witches that came after them.
His father has gotten as far as four houses down, stopping at a house of a wizard and a witch, who, despite himself and them, supposedly being mortal enemies. Has gotten along. Of course, they did keep the fact that they were witches Kanays limited. They never spoke of it in either conversations.
He has practically burned the door down, all he has to say was witches were after them, and he needed for his son to be save. Neither witch or wizard were able to stop him from returning to his house, in hopes of saving his wife.
The witch and wizard, unfortunately, had been only able to save him for a a year or two, as, hey ended up having their own child, or, children. They had twins, and, were unable to take care of Kai with the twins.
So, the had managed to find, who was suppose to be a Kanay family line. They hoped that, one of the children the couple would have (or had at the time) would end up being a Kanay, as Malachi was.
Only Malachi's brother ended up being a Kanay.
And as the two discovered, that some of the people they were friends with (well, just Emma at the time) where witches, and that Kanays and Witches were enemies...nothing changed.
Diego always thought it was insane, that, out of all the ones in foster care, they ended up with Kai. Who was one of the last two living Kanay's. He said what a crazy coincidence it had been, that, Kai had been in so, very few foster homes, and, one of the ones he was in (the one he stayed in) ended up being a Kanay household.
Despite, that, Malachi was equally protective of his brother. And sister. Although, it seemed difficult to keep track of Gigi.
The boy was quite, and mostly kept to himself. Much rather wanting to spend his time with his nose in a book. (Unless he had to go help and save his friends)
Then, Jax Novoa showed up. With his brother, Jason Novoa. And the Kanay's world was flipped upside down.
Because, even though his brother and Maddie had gotten passed the 'Kanay and Witches/wizards' don't get along.
He didn't expect for him to get along with a wizard. Much less, end up in having feelings. Much less, for a wizard as annoying as Jax Novoa.
