Soldiers voices echo through the cold concrete building, "They're here"

"Who"

"The Avengers"

 "For what"

"Who, actually. The girl"

"Lock her up"

"But sir she is our only chance against them-"

"You heard my orders Lieutenant, Lock. Her. Up."

"Yes sir"

Fourteen men hustle down to the chamber where Astrid Dimitrov is kept, they round the corner and to their surprise, the cell door is wide open, no sign of her anywhere. Confused shouts come from the soldiers as they rush back up the stone staircase.

Attie stands on the fifth floor, looking down at the snowy battlefield through the steel window. She watches as the bullets fly in either direction while debating whether to join the fight or not. She knows it's only a matter of time before she is forced into her cell and hide, although hiding is the last thing she wants to do. She's treated like a special jewel and only to be taken out to wave in a few people's faces and say "don't mess with us, we have her". Attie turns away from the window, she's never left the base before, mainly from a fear of being caught, she's been waiting all her life to be saved but what if this one time, she saved herself?

One

She paces the cold, damp room looking for blades or heavy objects that may do some damage.

Two

She found a pocket knife, a few stones, and a single arrow,

Three

She rushes back to the window, aims, and chucks a stone at the window, it shadders.

Four

She turns back to the door leading downstairs, the soldier's shouts and footsteps are heard coming up the stairs.

Five

Attie runs to the window hoisting herself into the window sill, sitting with her legs now dangling over the edge, looking down on the fight.

Six

The men are at the door desperate to get in, banging, yelling, shaking the doorknob.

Seven

Attie was already two steps ahead of them, she has a steel rod shoved in the door handle

Eight

She nudges herself closer to the edge holding onto her pocket knife and arrow

Nine

She takes a deep breath

Ten

She jumps

As she flys down the 5 story facility she begins to pick up speed luckily she can slow herself down with her telekinesis as she gets closer and closer to the pile of snow. She lands several yards away from any fighting, she is still on edge. The feeling you get when you break free of something, the feeling that you are doing something wrong but you couldn't care less. She runs behind the closest tree she can find. she tucks the pocket knife into her pocket and holds the arrow in front of her face, she allows herself to become one with the arrow as it slowly forms black whisps around it. Attie peeks out from behind the tree with the arrow now floating by her head. She locks eyes with her first victim, a hydra soldier. She stands up and slowly walks towards him, when he begins to sprint towards her, the arrow goes flying through his head, in and out. His now limp body now drops to the ground right in front of her, she stops for a second then steps over him. She is quite frankly surprised that it worked but she doesn't show it, just a sleek smile is wiped across her face.

She begins to take out each soldier at a steady pace. The arrow flying around with an ink trail, it circles her head a few times like a dog loyal to its owner.

Her streak is brought to a halt when a bomb detonates only a few feet away from her. The impact pushes her back and into a stone well, she sits there for a second trying to catch her breath now realizing what she has done and what she is doing.

"Oh god" she mumbles under her breath, she turns to look at the destruction and the trail of dead bodies.

"Hey kid," says a masculine voice from behind her

She quick turns to see Steve Rogers, the man she has been told to hate the most, the internalized fear of him ever being more than a story or a news article scares her onto her feet. She quickly pulls out the pocket knife from her pocket as she backs into a defensive stance.

"I don't want to hurt you," Steve says as he gentle stands up placing his shield on his back

"Neither do I" Attie responds without moving an inch.

"You're Astrid, correct?"

"Unfortunately"

"I know you don't want to be in this place any longer than you have to," Steve says as he inches closer to Attie, She keeps her distance though.

Attie maintains eye contact without a word

"Look, here's the thing, you can either stay here and play it safe in your little fear bubble or you can come with us, fight alongside the avengers so that nobody has to go through what you did."

The tension between the two was sharper than a knife.

"What's the harm" Attie responds as she loosens her position and tucks the pocket knife back into her pocket still keeping her distance.

"Excellent let's go then"
