Now we're back in the house. The bodyguards were helping us set up the Christmas tree.
It was easier setting it up when Mama was here. I miss her more now that we're setting up this giant tree.
She used to hang the mistletoe near the Christmas tree so she'll have a reason to kiss Mommy when she's underneath it. Corny right? Well, she does it still even though she can practically kiss Mommy Jen anytime she wants.
"Baby, what are you doing?" Mommy asked me when I climbed up the ladder.
I showed her the mistletoe in my hand and wiggled it a little.
"I'm putting this. Mama always hangs this thing here." I said to her and continued on climbing.
Mommy gave me a tight-lipped smile and cleared her throat.
"Right." She said and continued on taking the Christmas decors out of the shopping bags.
I finished putting the special green plant in its right position, and went down from the ladder.
"Oh right... Your Aunt Nayeon and her family is going to celebrate Christmas with us, baby. You're friends with her daughter right?" Mommy asked while starting to hang the first Christmas ball on the tree.
Really? They're going to celebrate with us? But aren't they in London right now?
I remember when Mommy decided to take us on a trip to London to celebrate the New Year with Aunt Nayeon's family.
They have a daughter who I think is a year older than I am. Not quite sure, but I'm certain that she's older than me.
I only remember her Korean name, but I do remember that she's pretty. I had a big fat crush on her but she basically younger sister zoned me when she wiped that milk ice cream smear on my face.
"You are so messy, Winter... But don't worry, it's cute." She said while wiping the corner of my lips with a tissue.
My face lit up when I heard that. I was like, yes! She finds me cute!
"Really?" I smiled at her widely, acting cute all of a sudden even though I hate cute.
I developed a cute allergy when Mommy always acts like that with Mama, especially every morning. Not a good way to start your day with your parents being lovey-dovey in front of you while you're eating your cereal.
She nodded her head and pinched my cheek a little. "Yes, really. I've always wanted a younger sister." She said, in which I felt like someone shot me three times in the heart.
"Uh— yeah... Of course. Thanks." That was the only words that I managed to say.
Damn it! I got younger sister zoned.
"Baby? Are you okay?"
I snapped out of my reverie when I heard my Mommy Jen's voice. I didn't notice that I was spacing out the whole time. Jeez Minjeong! Get a grip!
I nodded my head and picked up the long silver thingy and helped my mom in decorating the Christmas tree.
While my Mom is busy hanging the decors, she suddenly cleared her throat and peeked at me at the other side of the tree.
"Hey baby, did you remember that story about how we thought that you're going to be a Christmas baby?" Mommy uttered and showed me Mama's favorite gummy smile.
Ah yes. That story.
I was an IVF baby. The egg was from my Mama, but Mommy Jen carried me in her womb for 9 months.
