The world was in flames.

The little home that she'd loved was being engulfed. Her mothers beautiful platinum blond hair was stained red, her pretty emerald eyes empty and a faint smile on her face.

"It's okay," she whispered to the little girl who was sobbing, "Papa's going to fix this, and we'll be a happy family again, okay?" The green eyed, blond haired, 5 year old girl nodded, her tears never ceasing as she held onto her mother, pressing cloth to her mom's stomach wound as her father told her to.

The blood oozed and pooled from her mothers wound, soaking her daughters hands in warm, gooey red blood, but her daughter held firm, her expression wracked with fear as life continued to drain from her mothers eyes and from her stomach. Blood began to soak her daughters sakura blossom patterned and white yukata, but her daughter persists.

The girl looked up to see her father with his blue and white hair and his blue flames, his sword an inferno incinerating all of the demons within his path, but the hoard was too much for the half-demon. The little girls eyes went blank as she saw a demon get past her father and head towards her.

"Yuri! Ack, get back- Yuri!" her father's cries briefly entered her ears as she stared at the demon approaching her with tears, the red eyes of the demon filling her sight. Somewhere, deep within her heart, a single thread snapped and a thought filled her mind.

Tears slipped from the grasp of her emerald eyes as the demon bound and pounced at her, its jaws gapping wide and her father trying to get to her, her world turned blue. Her pale emerald green eyes turned blue as her fathers fire, her golden hair turned raven black at the crown of her head, and her arms that had lifted to protect herself and her mom became engulfed in blue flames.

The demon screeched as it was burnt into ash, the piercing screams of a little girl and the shouts of her father ringing through the night air before all came to silence. The demons were burnt from the girl's inferno, and her father could only look at her with sadness and horror in his eyes in the wake of the destruction left from her emotions.

"Pa...pa ... Mama isn't... breathing..."

It was then, when he heard his daughter's trembling, tear filled voice, Rin Okumura's world crashed down to ruins at his feet.

The rain pattered down on the father-daughter pair as they stared down at the gravestone. Rin's world seemed monochrome at that moment; there was no warmth, no joy, no color, and no feeling left. There was only the white gravestone and the damning words carved and etching into the the unfaltering, unfeeling rock.

In Loving Memory of

Okumura Shiemi

May we meet again in the

Garden of Amahara

Tears continued to fall from his sapphire eyes, the grief gouging what felt like a hole in his chest. After all they'd been through, after all they'd suffered, after everything they'd fought against, a stomach wound from a measly demon killed her. His hands clenched into fists, his nails digging into the palm of his hands when he felt a tug at the hem of his black suit.

His tearful eyes turned to look at his daughter, his Yuri's pale emerald eyes which now had a faint undertone of blue. The eyes which were filled with tears. A faint, forced smile was on her lips when her mouth opened to create a terrible question.

"Papa, where'd Mama go?"

Rin's eyes widened at his trembling daughters words, her voice shaking was she continued with tears and rain falling down her face.

"Ma-Mama said, that Papa will fix the bad situation, that Papa will beat the demons, and that we'll be a happy family again. Papa, why's Mama in the ground? Will she be healed there? Papa always said that the earth loves Mama, right? So, so the earth will bring her back, and we'll be a happy family again. We'll be happy again, right Papa? Papa?"

Rin crouched down in front of his daughter and enveloped her in his arms. He stroked her hair as he sobbed and murmured, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Papa failed, I failed. I'm sorry..."

"Pa... pa...?"

Rin pulled back, his tear stained face hidden beneath his long white and blue hair. He forced a big smile and exclaimed, "Yup! The earth does love Mama. Don't worry, Mama will be happy, after all, Mama's in the Garden of Amahara now. Mama always wanted to go there one day, remember?"

"Y-Yeah! I remember, Mama always said she'd find it, and she did, right?!"

"Yeah, that's right Yuri. You're a good girl, a good, smart girl, the best girl..." he began to tear up and sob, whispering, "And you look so much like your Mama, you wonderful, sweet girl. I love you Yuri, I'll always love you, because I'm your Papa and you're a good, good girl, okay? Now, I'm gonna get the car, and we'll get a new home, and I'll take you to the park, and buy you mochi, and give you that doll you like and, and..."

"And we'll stay up till midnight and watch anime, and we'll skip in the rain, and we'll curl up by the fire and drink hot chocolate, and I'll talk to the kodama and we'll always be together, right Papa?!" She exclaimed with tears in her eyes and a wide smile on her face, her eyebrows scrunched as an icky feeling rose up within her.

"We will Yuri. We will, and I promise, I'll keep you safe forever and ever, okay? So be a good girl and wait here for a little, I'll get the car, and we'll be happy when we get home, okay?"

She couldn't see her Papa's sapphire eyes anymore, and she could no longer distinguish between his tears and the rain. Papa looked like he was going to do something bad. But even so, she exclaimed with a forced happy voice, "Yes Papa, I'll wait here, I'll be a good big girl and wait here, I promise!"

Her father gave her one last hug before rising and turning around. Years later, she would wish she'd screamed out to him, she wished she took his hand and went with him to the car.

Because, on that rainy, grief drowned day, Yuri Okumura was abandoned at her Mother's grave by her Father, Rin Okumura, son of Satan and Paladin of the Exorcists.

"Papa...?"
