My alarm goes off at 6:00 am, my sister re-set my clock as to get me out of bed early.
"I don't appreciate you setting my alarm this early, I have my reasons to sleep in." I thrust my pillow over my face and groan. I struggle to climb out of bed and find a warm sweater to wear.
"Rainbow, have you seen my bag? I can't find it and I need it for work." My nineteen year old sister Daring pokes her head through the doorway.
I jump up and down as I struggle to pull on a sock, "uh..." I pause and think, "did you look on the couch downstairs?"
She looks up and sighs, "no, but..." she leaves, I hear her tread down the stairs. I pull on the sweater, and fix the red lightning bolt shaped pendant that hangs on my neck.
"Did you find it?" I yell down to her whilst struggling to find my red jacket. She runs back up the stairs, and tosses me my jacket.
"Yeah, I found it. Here's your jacket," I put it on and zip it up. Grabbing my bag and slinging it over my shoulder, I take caution not to crush the already brittle bones in my wings. Which are folded neatly on my back. I rush downstairs to grab my shoes, and nearly trip over a necklace left on the ground.
I pick up the gold pendant and look at it curiously, the blue and green coloured jewel that decorates the centre of the golden casing glows slightly. I place it on the counter gently as to not make a lot of noise.
"Rainbow, did you hide my bag, I seriously can't find it anywhere..." I quickly move away from the necklace and grab my Converse.
"No I did not hide your bag. I mean c'mon? What would I want with that tattered old bag?" I give her a confused look.
"Okay. Sorry." She glances at the pendant I put on the counter. When she walks over to the stairs, I watch her nimble fingers snatch it without making a sound.
Damn, I guess being on the run and needing to be quiet pays off in the real world to... but what does she want with that pendant?
I rush out the door and bolt down the sidewalk, out of the corner of my eye I see my friend, Rarity, just leaving her home in the Carousel Boutique. I stop and walk back over to her driveway.
"Good morning Rainbow Dash!" She calls in a warm tune, her violet locks bouncing on her shoulders as she jogs to catch up with me.
"Morning! What's up?" I ask as she finally reaches me, she sighs. I laugh, knowing that her and her little sister Sweetie Belle got into a fight.
"I don't know what she thinks I was put on this earth for, but I wasn't born to be her slave." She moans. I think about how Daring promised not to keep secrets, and how we've been so understanding of each other. I wonder how hard it would be to live in a house with someone who doesn't want to listen to a word you say.
"C'mon, I'm sure you two get along sometimes. Right?" I ask, she shakes her head.
"Nope, we don't get along at all. It's kinda funny, you'd think we'd get along. You and Daring get along well, though." She looks at me with a smile, then I see why; right up ahead is my significant other, Soarin.
"Hey Dash, what's up?" He jogs up and puts his arm around me, Rarity stares at him longingly. I shrug my shoulders and sigh. For a while I forgot about the pendant, and what Daring might be hiding.
