"Juno!" Dianne called, after seeing her dog go a little too close to the water. "Juno, come!".

Dianne slipped off her flip flops and left them on the steps leading to the beach, before stepping onto the sand. She looked up, and never tired of the sunset that greeted her. To her, this was the most beautiful place in the world.

She ambled towards the dog that was racing to her, before sitting down in the same spot she did every day, after her shift at work. She looked down at Juno, grateful that their paths had crossed. She had found him looking lost on this very beach around a year ago, and with no collar or microchip, she has kept him. His eyes stared up at her, one blue and one brown, with his tongue hanging out of his mouth.

"Just you and me again, buddy." Dianne murmured before stroking him. "Hopefully soon I'll find us a new home."

Dianne worked in a little café, just a few minutes walk from the beach. She had dreamed of becoming a professional dancer since she was little, but an injury in her late teenage years had crushed those dreams instantly. After years of rehabilitation, she decided that it was best to get a stable job with steady income , hence working in the café. Fortunately, her old dance teacher had given her a few classes at the dance school to teach little children, but on a voluntary basis.

She sighed, thinking about how those life events had caused her to be living with her parents in Perth, aged 25, with her dreams out of her reach. New dreams that she had yet to tell anyone.

As for her love life, that didn't bear thinking about.

Collecting her things on the steps before it got dark, she started to walk the same journey home that she had taken for the past few years. She briefly looked down to see Juno trotting alongside her, but before she could look up again, she had bumped into something. Or someone.
