Louie’s Pov

Surprisingly I love my job, playing the piano for a singing waitress at a jazz club/coffee shop. It’s really calming, but I didn’t know if it would be the same when El left for Spain. I had been playing the piano for almost 10 years. I came close to quitting but after my first major recital I realized that it could score some major points. In attracting girls, yeah. I was in my van going to work when I received a text from Anika (my boss) that said that there was a new singer. Well that was fast…Just that normally these types of jobs took a bit of time to find someone to work the job.

I carefully weaved my van through traffic, trying to get to work as fact as possible. As I got there, I could see that barely anyone was there. Not that anyone came, it was Monday afternoon, barely anyone came and tipped me. When I finished getting dressed into my work 'uniform' (which consisted of a black button-down, a skinny red tie, a fedora, and my favorite red braces, or suspenders), I got up on the stage and started playing. I guess the new girl didn't show yet so I might as well start playing. I played the first few notes of Michael Bublee's "Just haven't met you yet".

And started singing," I'm not surprised, not everything lasts. I've broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping track. Talk myself in, I talk myself out. I get all worked up then I let myself down. I tried so very hard not to loose it. I came up with a million excuses. thought, I thought of every possibility. And I know some day that'll all turn out. You'll make me work so we can work to work it out. And I promise you kid that I give so much more than I get. I just haven't met you yet."

By the time I got to the chorus a familiar face went in the coffee shop. Long blonde hair, cute smile (with braces) and was very fit. It was Koral! And was wearing a really cute LBD. Was she the new singing waitress? I looked for Anika and she gave me a look that said,"You don't get paid for not playing. KEEP PLAYING." When Koral aproched me and got up on stage. She said to me,"Can you play Love Song by Sara Bariless?" I nodded and started playing the first chords. As my fingers glided across the keys she started to sing," Head under water, and you told me to breathe easy for a while. Breathing gets harder, even I know that. Made room for me, it's too soon to see If I'm happy in your hands I'm unusually hard to hold on to

Blank stares at blank pages No easy way to say this You mean well But you make this hard on me

I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you ask for It 'Cause you need one, you see

I'm not gonna write you a love song 'Cause you tell me it's make or breaking this. If you're on your way

I'm not gonna write you to stay All you have is leaving I'm gon' need a better reason To write you a love song today, today."

Wow, Koral had such a nice voice; it was a lovely alto and reminded me a bit like Adele. After five minutes we had our break and I told her," You sing like an angel."

Koral blushed and replied," I actually wasn't going to apply but my aunt, Anika, wanted me to work here so she wouldn't have to find a new person so here I am!"

After that, Anika gave us a dirty look and then I started playing "How to save a life" by one of my absolutely favorite bands the Fray and she started singing. A few hours later, when it was the end of my shift we did one last song; it was "Someone like you" by Adele. Koral's voice matched the song perfectly. We ended the shift with a round of applause. We scrambled down the stage for our much needed break. I checked my watch, it was 5:49. Good, enough time to change and pick up Jenna.

"You’re a pretty good piano player." Koral said to me.

"Thanks love. But, I’m obviously not the best." I replied.
