"get up now, jeonghan," a guard calls. the voice was exceptionally soft, and jeonghan recognized it almost immediately. the prisoner smiled as he sat up to see his favorite guard. "a lawyer wants to meet you. come on!"

"jino, it's not april fools. come on, that's used already last year! you didn't need to wake me this early for that." jeonghan rubbed his eyes to push his sleepiness away, but he was sadly still sleepy.

"i'm not kidding, get up now! he's a new lawyer from a famous firm, so get up and going!"

now that intrigued jeonghan. a new lawyer? maybe a lawyer who doesn't get all the big cases that they want so they dig through files and find jeonghan's eventually, then they go to him to ask questions for future use. if that's the case, it's totally fine by jeonghan.

escorted out of his cell, jino spoke again as they walked. "his name sounds familiar. do you have a family friend who's a lawyer?"

"i won't know unless i see him now," jeonghan shrugged, interested about this lawyer. what now? did his family care for him again? "i'm ready."

"alright."

as soon as jeonghan enters the new room and sees the lawyer sitting down waiting for him, jeonghan noticed that something was off. really off.

"hey! how did you get into a big law firm after graduating?!" jeonghan exclaims with a big smile, all his pain from jisoo not replying for a year just disappearing completely after now. "you're a cheat."

"what?! i got into the law firm because of your blessing, like how the plant's still alive!" the lawyer, who was jisoo, is definitely not allowed to speak so casually like that. but jisoo was a friend of jeonghan. maybe even more. "anyways, your sentence is going to end soon. in six months, right?"

"yeah," jeonghan says, looking at jisoo straight in the eyes with adoration. indeed, the man looks beautiful when he smiles. jeonghan envies all jisoo's acquaintances who get to see this on a daily basis. "wow. i spent my youth here."

jisoo's goofy smile changed to a smile where you could feel warmth, and sincerity. "i'm sorry for leaving you hanging, jeonghan."

"no, it's all good. forgiven," jeonghan smiled back, inching his index finger further across the table to brush it against joshua's hand. "when i get out, i have a plan."

jisoo tilted his head in curiosity. "what's the plan? another crime, huh? no no no! i did my best to finish law school with flying colors to enter the best law firm to reach my dream, not to defend you when you do crime again!"

"nope!" jeonghan laughed, looking at jisoo's suitcase. i'm so proud of him. "i'm gonna marry you."

"uh-uh. say no homo right this instant."

but jeonghan didn't say it.
