Taehyung sitting in the far corner, trying his best to hold back his tears – it broke Jimin.
He hated that the staff was being a bit insensitive, not allowing Taehyung to see Jungkook when the boy needed him. Yes, they had to follow the schedule and film, but they could also cut the part where Taehyung appeared afterwards.
Still, they had chosen to go through with the easy method and pushed Taehyung away.
Jimin's hands itched with the need to grab Taehyung and hug him and kiss him and assure him that everything is alright. But it wasn't Jimin that Taehyung wanted...it was Jungkook.
It would always be Jungkook.
Jimin was his best friend and as the fans had called them – soulmates. But that word had somehow become a label that Jimin couldn't make peace with.
Of course a soulmate could be anyone, your friend, your lover or maybe even a stranger. But in Jimin's mind the silent conversation passing between Taehyung and Jungkook, that was the real deal. They knew each other, inside out. Yes, Jimin knew Taehyung as well, and he secretly did wish that his knowledge of Taehyung and his secrets surpassed Jungkook's share. However, there was no way to find out.
Ever since Taehyung told him about his feeling for Jungkook, a glass wall had slowly built itself his heart.
He danced between the extreme pains of heartbreak and the will to hope for something else...something that would make Taehyung realize Jimin's feelings.
He wasn't so petty as to wish for his two friends to break up, no, that was cruel and he didn't want to be a villain in their story.
But there were times, when he sensed a restlessness in Jungkook, a restlessness that Taehyung has caught on and every time he saw it his face fell. Jimin had yet to find out what it was that had caused a flicker of sadness in Taehyung's eyes. It had something to do with their relationship, he knew it.
Every one of the member had been instructed to keep relationships under wraps, and it was the hardest for Taehyung and Jungkook.
Had there been misunderstandings because of this separation? Jimin wondered.
Looking up he watched as Taehyung wiped his face with the back of his t-shirt sleeve and leaned back on the wall, waiting for the staff to come and give him an update on Jungkook's condition.
Once again, Jimin found himself torn between his roles of a secret lover and as a best friend.
He should go and cheer Taehyung, and be the perfect best friend but his feelings were messing with his head. The secret lover part of him wanted to pick up Taehyung and take him away from this place, this room, this scene that was making him sad. He wanted to lock away his precious Taehyung in a safe house where no one could touch him.
It always worried him, what would happen if Taehyung went alone into the outside world? His pure, innocent soul...would it be able to survive this harsh world? Would he be able to battle the disappointment and chaos that people carry with them? Would he be able to shield himself from the never-ending hatred?
There was a time when Jimin had found himself victim to the hate of the digital world. It had almost torn him to pieces.
But he had pulled through. With encouraging words from Namjoon hyung, smiles from Taehyung and cheers from his other members he had made it through.
Now, he was smart enough to not fall for baseless rumors or backlash of people who thought he couldn't sing.
Apart from Taehyung who was mostly into video games, the rest of the members had had some experience with the cruel words of the Twitter world.
Most times than not, Jimin made it a point to monitor Taehyung's activities online. Every time Taehyung wished to post something, Jimin was there to help out and coin a few loving words for their awesome fans. If it weren't for his quick actions, Taehyung would have noticed the hateful comments that came in after his post, or the thread and posts people uploaded on twitter about them and glorifying how badly the band sang. But with help of Namjoon hyung, Jimin had gotten rid of this digital hate, and he was careful to not let Taehyung's curious eyes fall on them.
But what of their world? Jimin's conscience whispered.
Their world... behind the scenes of the band called BTS, was also not pleasant. Ever since the management started to separate Taehyung and Jungkook, the situation had gotten worse.
If it were any other person, they might have rejoiced at seeing an opportunity to approach their love, and they would take the chance because of the recent separation. But not Jimin...Jimin had no use of it.
His heart bled for both Taehyung and Jungkook, and he also cursed himself for not having the will to give up on his unrequited love.
It wasn't that he hadn't tried to step away from Taehyung, but it had been near impossible.
He was so attached to Taehyung, his presence, his voice, his laughter that any other person might have guessed his feelings, but when it came to Taehyung and Jungkook, both of them were dense – the kind of stupid clueless people who made Jimin want to beat them up and at the same time he wanted to hug them.
How had he managed to stay sane for such a long time was anybody's guess.
Still, he had believed that maybe over time once Taehyung and Jungkook got together his poor heart would take the hint and move on.
But it had done the exact opposite.
His feelings had grown to a point, where if he closed his eyes he could pick out Taehyung from across the room just by the sound of his sigh. It was as if all his thoughts were cocooned around Taehyung. They started with him and they ended with him.
What made it worse was that, Jimin had no control over his pain at seeing them together. And his miserable self, tried to get close to Taehyung while playing the best friend card.
He was pathetic, he knew it, but he couldn't help it.
If he couldn't be with Taehyung at least he could stay by his side and feed his dark never-ending feelings of love.
"Hey... Taetae -" he said and walked up to his friend. Taehyung looked up and a tear slid down his cheek.
Jimin curled his fist and crouched down in front of Taehyung.
"Don't cry. Jungkookie is strong, he'll definitely pull through." He said.
"I know Jimin-nah... it's just that I-I hate being away from him."
And those words pierced Jimin's heart again, reopening the wounds and making him cry on the inside.
What was he going to do? How was he going to end this useless love in his heart?
