Hinata falls on the ground as he's trying to receive Kageyama's set. He was so disappointed another missed receive. Hinata's team didn't know how to play, they would just run around the court and miss all the balls. His teammates did a great job considering that they never played this sport. They were just friends that he had gathered up to play. Unfortunately, they were losing 15-20 and he couldn't help it. Compared to his senior he really sucked even so he would always repeat to himself "On my summer vacation I'll have time to practice and become better. I will become the next tiny giant." Those thoughts were a big motivation to him, it would boost up his confidence and inspire him to push forward no matter what.
Kageyama's skills were amazing besides he was quite a show off. He was an outstanding setter probably the best on his team. Like anyone else he too had a flaw, a big one, that everyone hated. He always tried to rule around the court, telling his teammates what to do. Kageyama used to yell at everybody for the tiniest mistake, not to mention he was always grumpy. Due to his behavior his team would label him as "the king of the court". That wasn't something flattering nor something to be proud of. This nickname was given to Kags so they could all mock him.
As the game continued Yukigaoka junior high was losing to Kitagawa Daiichi. Kageyama's team won the two sets, the first one by 19-25 and the second one by 21-25. Hinata was rather upset about his loss, he couldn't believe it. He had put so much effort in this match and didn't win a single set. He almost wanted to give up but instead he swore to himself that one day he'll beat that snappy black haired guy. "On a second thought, I did well for my very first game." he mumbled to himself while walking out of the gym.
As time passed by it was already the end of the year, more precisely the last day of school. Shoyo Hinata wanted nothing more than to finish the day and go back home so he could practice some more volleyball. As the bell of the last period ran, he was already packing his books in his bag. Once he was ready to run out of class, he got interrupted. "So what are you planning to do on the summer break?" his friend asked while approaching him. "I'm planning on practicing all summer so I could play better on the court!" he exclaimed. "Oh, you and your volleyball." replied his friend all joyful. The conversation went on as they were calmly walking out of class.
As soon as he enters his house, he drops his bag, gets his volleyball and runs in his yard. He began by stretching his arms and legs, he also ran a few circles around in his tiny courtyard. He practiced for hours his forearm passes and his overhead passes, as well as his receives. To practice them he would throw the ball in the air and wait for it to fall back down for him to hit it back up. Most of the times he would miss and the ball would just fall onto the ground.
While Hinata was practicing very hard, he didn't even notice when his mom came back home. "Shoyo I'm home!" she screamed immediately after stepping foot in the house. While she was making supper, Hinata's sister joined him in the backyard. She sat down on the deck and watched him play. She stared at him try harder and harder every time he sent the ball flying, she suddenly had a desire to play.
"Shoyo I want to play too, I want to play too!" she screamed with excitement. "Sure, here you'll throw me the ball and I'll try to receive it." he said with enthusiasm. Thirty minutes later, their mom called them for supper.
At the table there was a dish with crumbs of bread and some butter right beside it. It was accompanying the main dish, a soup. A really good one, Shoyo liked this meal very much, in fact it was his favorite. His mom made it especially for him since today was his last day of elementary school.
While eating they talked about a lot of things like how their day went, what they did, what they plan to do in the next two months before school starts again. It was a really wholesome conversation.
