Chapter 1

Waves touching the sand, I sit as I crouch myself on the seashore. I look at the view in front of me. Endless horizon like endless possibilities. Yesterday, I was the most ecstatic person. My eyes glistened with the hope of happiness. I take a deep breath. How I wish memories could vanish just like how the prints in the sand are washed away by the waves of the sea.

"Eon Jin!" A warm voice is calling my name.

"Eon Jin-ah." She comes closer to where I am.

"Eonnie?" I stand up and brush off the sand all over my white flowy dress.

She's my sister. An angel face with a soothing voice. It's just the two of us. If given a chance to find another sibling, I wouldn't trade her for the world.

"Why are you here, dear? The evening breeze is bone chillin'." My sister covered me with a knitted cloth to give me warmth.

"I'm having a moment alone with the wonderful nature, eonnie. The sound of the crashing waves is calming." I flash a smile at her.

My sister envelopes her arms around me. "I'll set up a bonfire after dinner. How about that, little sis?"

I nod at her with my lips curving into a smile.

...

Tiptoeing my feet to stop any sound that I could make on the floor, I aim to get out of this house. I didn't bring anything with me. I made sure that there is no trace of me the moment I leave this place.

Cellphone, wallet, identity cards, extra clothes and bank cards. I left them all. It's just me in my flowy dress, knitted cloth and my shattered heart.

As the evening wind touches my skin, I shivered. I run and run towards the shore. It's dawn. No one is awake. I'm all alone outside. I reached the spot where the sea meets the sand. There is a small fishing boat. It's a motor boat. I don't know how to operate it, but, I got to observe one time that there was a string like thing that I need to pull for the engine to start. I pulled that string and the roaring sound of the motor boat echoes around the evening silence.

As I settled myself inside the boat, I aimed for balance. The vehicle moved forward to the path of no direction. Running away was never my intention, but my situation pushed me to the complete stage of contemplation. I need this. I'll end this.

I'm having goosebumps. The temperature of the air is relatively low. It's dark, I can't see any light nor image of houses with illuminating brightness. I'm in the middle of nothingness, feeling the unsteadiness of where I am in.

"Oppa." I shrieked as I lost my balance.

I have a habit of calling his name when I'm in trouble. He can't hear me as I am in the middle of the sea. Tears start to flow from my eyes.

I didn't get up. I lay down instead, facing the sky with shining stars. I realized... There are lights above. I was so into looking back at the nothingness of that place that I missed looking up to the brilliants of the night. Is it a hope? My mind shrugs off the thought. It is hopeless.

I hugged myself as I allow slumber to take over me. I won't look back. I won't get back.
