you watched in as the purple aura the started to surround the dirty dishes and a small rag on the countertop began to clean the dishes the two of you had used for the tasty breakfast you had just had with your host shinsou.
he walks up behind you after putting something back in his pantry as you continue to watch the purple blobs in the air clean, rinse, and put the rest of them away quickly.
"a maintenance spell," he starts, still standing behind you. "i managed to cast one on the house and the garden since vampires can't really do hard labor." he chuckled nervously.
his calm and somewhat joking tone of voice in his mind he was losing it.
oh my stars. why did i say that? she's going to want to run away now. i probably just made her so uncomfortable. what's the matter with me oh nonono-
while the tall vampire was busy having his mini-meltdown, you were in awe about the fact that he was able to do something like that. you had never seen magic like that before, and had no idea that somebody could do something so convenient with magic.
"so, this entire place basically cleans itself?" you asked.
"y-yea, basically," he said, his head coming down from the clouds. "anytime something gets dirty or isn't where it's supposed to be, the spell activates and does its job." he explained.
"woah." you say, still in shock. "that is... so cool!!!" you frantically gush to him.
"i've never seen anyone be able to perform magik like that! you must be super strong if you can cast something like that!"
he looked away bashfully.
"i don't really know about strong," he replied scratching the back of his neck. "i've just had way too much time on my hands, so why not do something useful with it, you know? and if you're that interested, i have that library full of books with even more useful spells than that." he pointed his head over to the direction of the study you had seen the night before.
"that'd be great!!" you say. "i mean if it wouldn't be too much trouble for you..." you add sheepishly while following him to the study.
"oh no it isn't a problem at all," he reassures you after passing through the main hall. "i'm normally not fond of people in my house, but it is nice to have company that aren't out for my head."
"yea, i guess it's only human nature." you agree with him while he gives you a funny look.
"you know what i mean!"
you finally arrive to the study after what seemed like forever and you were in awe at the sight of it like you were the day before. shinsou goes over to one of the shelves and lightly drags his fingers over the book spines and picks out a deep orange one with a hardcover that's quite thick. he then goes over to the ladder on another shelf and climbs up, almost falling trying to reach a smaller, disheveled looking one, bookmarks peeking out from the pages.
this gave you a chance to get a good look at him while he climbed around for the book he was looking for, and you can't help but notice how easy he is on the eyes. how can such a handsome man be so reclusive?
he comes back to you, that's now leaning against the table observing him closely. he hands you the bigger orange book.
"this is a book on introduction to magik that my mentor gave me a while back. it's been sitting here collecting dust, so i don't mind if you borrow it for a bit. just don't mess it up, or i'll kill you. got it?"
a shiver went down your spine at the small threat, and you couldn't help but stutter while giving your reply.
"g-got it." you swallowed nervously.
"good. i'm gonna try and finish what i've got right now, since i've only got a couple more sections left to go." he yawned as he took a seat across from you.
"yours is fairly simple to follow, just some basic spells and recipes for potions and what-not. i think it goes into a little bit of combat strategies too, so it shouldn't be too boring."
you nod and open the book to the first chapter.
'he was right, this stuff really is interesting!!'
six hours and nine and a half chapters later you both were out like a light. you were the first one to wake up from your naps and as you blinked looking around, finally laying sight on the pale moonlight peeking though the big window. you turn to the small clock hanging up next to it.
'1:49?! it couldn't have been that long!'
you turn to the sleeping vampire across from you and you can't help but gaze at him.
'he looks so peaceful, i-i can't wake him up, not like this!! it's not like i can go back to the room...'
you think for a second.
'my back'll be killing me later but i guess i have to fall back asleep here...'
and that's what you did.
shinsou awoke a couple hours later when the amber rays of the sunrise shined in on his face. he blinked a couple times before turning a bit to look at you, passed out on the table. he couldn't help but blush a bit at the sight of your sleeping face, far off in your dreams.
'she's... not the worst looking...wait what am i saying? i haven't even known her for a week?! c'mon man pull yourself together!' he thought to himself as that same purple aura lifted you up to float you to your room, him not far in front. he stretched a bit before ascending the staircase, finally reaching the guest room.
you were tucked in safely under the duvet covers as he got to have one final look at you before heading down to his own chamber to get some extra sleep.
