Our Time Will Come (Kamijirou)

Chapter 6: The Discovery

One Month Later

Kamanari had gotten out of the hospital last week, and the doctors have now cleared him to go back to hero work.  Unfortunately, the investigation had still failed to provide a solid lead on the identity of the Stain copycat.  On top of that, Jirou and Shoji got called back to Gang Orca, so they had less hands to work with.  

"Hello Chargebolt.  The other heroes are waiting for you"

The receptionist greeted him as he walked in.

"Thanks Ichika" 

Kamanari waved to her as he headed to the elevator.  Upon entering the conference room, he was immediately mobbed by his friends.

"Kamanari!"

Mina shouted and ran over to hug him

"Good to have you back bro.  Place hasn't been the same without you man"

Kirishima grinned as he slapped Kamanari on the back.  The door opened again, as Deku.

"Ah Kamanari, feeling better?"

"Yes sir"

Kamanari replied, ready to get back to work.  The heroes took their seats as Deku prepared for briefing.  

"There was another murder last night at the decommissioned subway station down at 5th street.   We're gonna need to send a team to check out the crime scene.  Iida has also requested backup on a sting operation his agency has been working on."

Deku paused and counted the number of heroes in the room.

"Damn we need one more person"

He cursed, thinking how he was going to split up the heroes. 

"I think I can help with that"

They all whipped around and saw Jirou in the doorway.  Ashido and Tsu ran over to give hugs. 

"What are you doing here girl? I thought Gang Orca needed you ribbit?"

Asui asked her as she pulled away.

"I finished my assignment early, and plus every hero in Japan wants this guy caught"

She clenched her fists at that last line.

"Jrou welcome back! thank you so much for-"

"Hey babe? I'm sorry I still can't find the bathroom"

A voice yelled out down the hall, interrupting Deku.  A few moments later, a man appeared in the doorway.

"You said it was down the-Oh sorry heroes, I didn't mean to interrupt." 

He laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head. 

"Guys, this is my boyfriend Damasu" 

Jirou took his hand and kissed him on the cheek.  Looking at Damasu the way Kamanari wanted her to look at him.

He showed no reaction, but seeing her kiss another guy nearly killed him on the inside.  He kept his distance, not saying anything other than to introduce himself.  His friends however seemed to love the guy.  They were all crowded around Damasu, asking questions and goofing off.  Finally Deku cleared his throat, bringing them to attention.  

"I hate to interrupt, but we have serious work to get to.  Damasu, if you still need to use the bathroom, we have them in the lobby.  The elevator is just outside to the right"

"Thank you sir.  Sorry again for bothering"

He bowed to Deku before turning to Jirou.

"And I'll see you later tonight after I'm off"

He gave Jirou a quick kiss before slipping out of the room, making Kamanari wince again.

"Your boyfriend works here?"

Todoroki asked her with an eyebrow raised.

"No he's just in town on business, same as me" 

Jirou replied.

"What does he do?"

Tokoyami asked, standing in the corner, his face obscured in shadow

"Hmmmmmm, now that you mention it, I'm not sure the exact name of his company"

Jirou realized before Deku stood up, clearly annoyed.

"AS I WAS SAYING"

He took a deep breath and calmed down.  

"We have a lot to do today.  Ashido and Uraraka will head over to the new crime scene.  Tokoyami and Asui will help Iida.  As for Jirou, Sero, and Kirishima.  I need you guys to come with me on a raid.  The police have found a potential safehouse and they requested our help.  And as for Kamanari"

Deku paused and gestured towards the blonde hero.

"We finally have a name.  Mr. Miyazaki Takeshi, aka the villain Toxic Blade.  He can produce poisonous blades from his fingertips.  While this person is obviously not the copycat, they are working with him, or helping him out in some way.  We need you to watch this guy, but don't let him know we're onto him.  Be discrete. 

He then turned to address the entire group once more

"Everyone meet back here at closing.  Dismissed"

1 Hour Later

Kamanari was sitting on the rooftop, opposite of Takeshi's house.  He changed out of his hero costume, and was wearing a normal civilian outfit.  Blue jeans and sneakers with a plain grey hoodie.  Nothing happened so far, and Kamanari was getting bored and restless. 

This is just great.  My first day back after sitting around the house and what do they make me do? sit around and do nothing

He took a quick glance at his watch

7:51 PM

Ugh two more hours

Kamanari was about to fall asleep when something caught his eye.  A strange hooded figure walked up to the house and slowly opened the door, making sure nobody was watching him.  Kamanari immediately jumped down from the roof and hid behind a dumpster in the nearby alleyway.  The figure emerged minutes later, clutching his left arm.  The sleeve of his hoodie stained red with blood.   

Now's my chance

Kamanari leapt from the shadows pointing his gauntlet at the copycat.  

"4 Million Volts"

It wasn't his absolute limit, but it certainly took a toll on him.  The copycat managed to dodge most of the electricity, but was still shocked in place for one second.  The shaking made his hood fall off and Kamanari froze

H-He looks just like Damasu

Kamanari didn't get a good look however, as the effect of his electricity wore off, allowing the copycat to throw something at the ground.  There was a bright flash and a puff of smoke, and he was gone, leaving Kamanari alone.  

He entered the house to find Toxic Blade laying in a pool of blood on the ground.  Kamanari knelt down and put his fingers to the villains neck. 

Dead

Kamanari didn't know what to do.  He wasn't completely sure, but at the same time, the copycat looked just like Jirou's boyfriend.  He convinced himself that he had just met the guy, and he only saw his face once, so there's a chance he could've been mistaken.  He didn't want to admit it, but he was also just jealous and had some kind of natural envy of the guy".   

Kamanari called the police to report the body, and then went back to the agency to regroup with the others.  They were all hanging out in the lounge.  Asui, Ashido, Tokoyami, Todoroki, Kirishima, Sero, Iida, Uraraka, Deku, Jirou, and

Damasu!
