Chapter 1

D A W N

It's been 3 years since I moved into this apartment and honestly feels like I've lived here my whole life. I'm currently 21 living with my dog Karla she's a corgi. She turned 2 recently I did a little party for her and she loved it, well she better have cause I didn't waste 50 precious dollars for nothing.

I work at a book store 8 mins away from my housr, so I always walk there  and plus I'm too broke to buy a car sooo yea.. Speaking of work I think I need to get going now.

I get up and walk to the bathroom. I hop into the showers and wash my hair and body. I step out and put in my ear piercings. I have a few some was when I was drunk and decide it was a good idea to get one. I belly piercing the thing hurt for months. A nose piercing It looked good. My favorites were the one on my ears four on each sides.

I thrown on a oversized sweater and my fading jeans. Karla walks over and pulls on the butt of my jeans she was probably hungry.

I laugh as I roll my eyes. I put on my shoes and grab my phome to check the time 9:21 well I'm late. I'm suppose to be there by 8:30 so I'm almost an hour late. I quickly grab an apple and wear my shoes. I look back at Karla who is neatased  kitchen looking for her food.

I quickly get her food and water as I grab my phone and keys "If you break my TV again or any other furniture in the house I'm setting you up for adoption" I look at her directly in her eyes she just turns her head away sassily and continued eating her food.

I click my toungue with a sigh and walk out locking the door. I start walking on the sidewalk as people are also walking to places or just taking a stroll. I live in the outskirts of  New York City it is really pretty but kinda scary at night to be honest. As I walk to work the book store I work is called 'Book by Book' pretty simple but also entitled.

After a few minuted of walking I get to work. I get in and see my boss 'Chantel' glaring at this is a warning Never Mess With A Black Woman just Never "So you decided to show up huh Rory?" her soulmate 'Nancy'  ( yes they are lesbian couple) was looking at me with a look saying 'not my problem' before smiling as she continued cleaning up.

"I'll work an extra hour" I quickly say I don't really have any sassy energy in me today to get in a argument with her. "Oh..that's new" she says with a stunned looked "Ok then oh and a new series of 'By Your Light" came today" My eyes quickly brightens   "Yes!" I shout and rush over to the book on the desk and open it. It's my favorite series and I happen to work at a book store so I get it for free "You can put it on the fantasy isle, after work you can grab you copy" she said as she went to organize the tables in our book store. " Thank you" I yelled so she can hear me.

I walk to the fantasy isle and start placing book their I have this wheelie thingy that let's me pack a bunch of book but I forgot what it was called (I actually forgot too).

Kim and Natalia pop out of nowhere causing me to jump "What the fuck!" I saw glaring at them. "Good morning bitch" she said with her usual Hispanic accent  "G'morning hoe" Kim starts laughing "I swear you guys are weird" his accent also showing. I sigh as I never learned my language my parents never taught me or even paid for me to be taught. Even thought I was grown I had no time or money to get classes way to many shit on my plate.

"We are coming over Friday after work OK?" She says casual as Kim hums in agreement "Never even run it by me first" nothing new though she just shrugs and gets to work making small talks and jokes.

~After his shift~

After my shift was done at around 9:20 an hour later than usual i tell my crazy best friends and my boss and her soulmate my goodbye and walk out of the book store.
