as harry exits the train he sees a girl with dark curly locks and faded scars on her face. they make eye contact and then harry continues his way to the castle. while he's walking malfoy comes up to him. "I'm surprised the ministry still lets you walk around free potter." harry decides to ignore him. "Better enjoy it while you can, i expect this to sell in azkaban with your name on it." harry lunges for draco but ron holds him back and hermoine frowns.
"I'll tell you, complete-" harry cuts draco off by yelling. "Just stay away from me!" A girl appears next to draco, she looks back at harry angrily and continues to walk with him. "Draco what happened? are you okay?..." she says while walking away with him. "I'm fine cordelia just leave it alone." Strange, harry had seen her around school before but didn't know she was friends with malfoy.
- time skip :)
cordelia walks with her brother and tries to calm him down. "i swear i'll kill him!" draco yells angrily, crabbe flinches and steps back being careful not to anger him any more. "draco stop!" cordelia exclaims, suddenly blaise catches up to them and stands next to cordelia. "blaise now really isn't the-" draco cuts her off. "blaise stay the fuck away from my sister or i'm going to bash your head in!" draco yells in a sudden outburst of anger, blaise leaps back and quickly walks away.
"draco stop it!" cordelia says tugging on his arm angrily. "your going to embarrass yourself draco, you'd be lucky the dark lord doesn't hear about you causing a scene." she says concerned. "i bet father would love to hear about your letters to the weasley girl wouldn't they cordelia?" cordelia softly gasps. "how did you know about that?" he grins. "i heard she's dating dean now so don't bother sending anymore letters." tears threaten to slip down cordelias face but she refuses to let her guard down. especially for some dumb girl.
but was ginny really seeing dean? after the letters and what ginny said to her just before 5th year started. and now cordelia refuses to let her guard down for some idiotic crush, maybe she should just give in and become a death eater. it's not like she has a choice anyways.
- next day
cordelia approaches her first class of the year. "bloody hell umbitch is back again." she mumbles, wonder what she has in mind this time around. as she walks into her class it's silent which is strange considering how loud her classmates are. she reads the sign on umbridges desk. Defense Against The Dark Arts. As if cordelias day couldn't get any worse the only available seat was either next to ginny or harry. "Miss Malfoy, take a seat please!" Umbride exclaims, cordelia decides to take her chances and sit next to harry.
ginnys smile fades and it quickly turns into a angry expression. "cordelia?" she asks angrily. cordelia ignores her and continues with class as umbridge explains we won't be using wands or spells in this class. "your previous instructions in this subject has been disturbingly uneven, but please know from now on you will be following a carefully instructed ministry approved course of defensive magic." Hermoine raises her hand. "Yes?" umbridge asks calmly.
"there's nothing in here about using defensive spells..." Hermoine speaks as she looks into the book. "Using spells?" Umbridge says with a laugh. "I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom." She says. "We're not gonna use magic?" Ron says next to harry. "You will be learning about defensive spells in a secure risk-free way." she says. "Well what use is that if we're going to be attacked." harry says and cordelia turns her head at him surprised. "my students will raise their hand when they speak in my class." umbridge says turned around. "it is the view of the ministry that a theoretical knowledge would be sufficient to get you through your examinations which after all is what school is all about."
"are house theories supposed to prepare us?" harry asks angrily. "how do you imagine what wants to attack children like yourself?" cordelias heart drops knowing exactly what he's going to say. "harry shut up your going to get us all in trouble." she whispers to him frantically. oh fuck. "oh i don't know maybe lord voldemort?" he says and the whole class goes silent. small murmurs and whispers are heard and umbridges face says it all. "let me make this quite plain." umbridge finally speaks.
"you have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again this is a lie." she speaks calmly. "it's not a lie i saw him i fought!-" Umbridge cuts him off. "detention for you mr potter." rage boils up inside. "We should report you to the ministry for child endangerment!" cordelia yells angrily standing up from her seat and knocking her book of the desk. "So according to you cedric diggory dropped dead to his own accord?" the name pained cordelia to hear, considering the last time she heard it he was pronounced dead.
FLASHBACK
cordelia walks down the corridor and suddenly hears a noise, hoping it isn't filch she hides behind a corner hoping for somebody who would consider giving her mercy. "malfoy is that you?" the voice is familiar, cordelia turns her head and sees diggory standing in front of her with a flashlight pointed at her face. "please don't tell anybody about this, i'll pay you, i'll give you anything, i'll cover for you if you ever-" Cedric cuts her off. "malfoy chill i won't tell anybody about this... unless...." he says. "unless what? i'll do anything." cordelia says. "you wanna know what will keep me from saying anything?" he asks, cordelia nods impatiently. "a date."
END OF FLASHBACK
cordelia smiles at the memory and then snaps back into reality. "his death was a tragic accident!" umbridge says losing her temper. "cedric diggory was a innocent boy who's life was evidently taken by lord voldemort!" cordelia yells angrily, she's gonna get in so much trouble for this. "It was murder voldemort killed him and you must know that!" harry adds on. "i'll see you both in detention, mr potter and ms malfoy..."
