"DARYL YOU BASTARD! DONT LEAVE ME HERE TO FUCKING DIE!" I heard her scream. Tears were streaming down my face. "Daddy! Don't leave mommy!" Peyton said reaching back for Janet. I held her close to me as I duck under a huge branch. "Mommy is going to be fine, don't worry," I said slowing down to a walk. "Daddy?" Peyton whispered. "What is it?" I answered setting her down. "I'm scared," she said looking around. Night was falling onto the pink sky, turning it to a sort of orange color. The sound of crickets chirping and fresh water flowing helped calm me down. "I am too honey, I am too."

i woke up pretty early and decided to go hunting for food so i wouldnt wake up Peyton. before i headed down the trail i looked over my shoulder and saw a tiny head poking out of the sleeping bag. am i ready to be a father? what if i fail her? thoughts like these rushed into my mind but i shook them out. no, i am not ready. i grabbed my crossbow off my back, pulled my bag onto the other shoulder, and started down the trail.

i dont need anyone else. they just slow me down.
