The New Maiden (a Demon's Souls X RWBY story)

Prelude

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to my Demon's Souls x rwby story, before we get started I will be writing the first chapter of both this and the Bloodborne idea I had, and whichever one gets the more feedback I'll switch my focus on. After both of these chapters are up I'll also be putting out the update for Redemption of a Father, now let's get into my thoughts going into this.

Let's start with some background, Demon's Souls is the genesis of the modern Souls franchise by Fromsoftware and was the precursor to a lot of design element we see in souls games of today. However until the recent remake in 2020 Demon's Souls was something of a cult icon not receiving much recognition outside of Souls veterans and as the servers shut down in 2018 it seems that og Demon's Souls is simmering and fading. However I won't let the legacy Demon's Souls left be unappreciated and will attempt to do justice to one of its best characters in my own special way of storytelling. Maiden Astraea is one of the best bosses in Demon's Souls and in all of souls in general in my opinion, a cleric who went on a pilgrimage into the valley of defilement (a land said to be abandoned by god) to help those who were touched by sickness and plague. Along side her faithful companion Garl Vinland and an accompaniment of other holy knights she ventured into the valley and disappeared. When we find her Astraea has become a demon, however she is not horribly malformed and exaggerated like others who posses the demon's soul. Instead she uses the power it gave her to help those in the valley and try to cure them of their ailments. Garl Vinland is the only knight of her company that is alive and stands by Astraea's side as we come to claim the arch demon's soul. Killing Vinland causes Astraea to kill herself as she can no longer put up resistance. Now for those of you unaware most of my stories will be rwby crossovers because rwby is an easy world and allows me to adapt elements into something more complex, the issue arises when you realize rwby's story is hot shit and has really stupid errors that make it really hard to properly do well. I fixed this in RoaF by alienating my main characters from the central plot of rwby so as to avoid the shit plot and forge something more tolerable. With these two stories I want to try my hand at actually dipping into the central plot, the Bloodborne story will focus more heavily on the student aspect whereas this one will be a lot of the Ozpin vs Salem and the war of dark and light. With that being said Maiden Astraea will be able to kill Salem however she won't want to. Astraea is a kind hearted soul even with the dark root of her powers so she will want to try to find a peaceful solution. My plan is to start this story a little before the first season and end it at the fall of Beacon. I'll be redoing the whole fall as well but that's later. I'm going to emphasize the outrageous lengths Ozpin is going to to attempt to kill this cartoonishly evil Salem. So I'm gonna fix that by having Maiden Astraea pull a balancing act. She will have the power to slay immortals as a sort of Über version of the maidens in rwby, but she's gonna focus on being a reasonable peacekeeper instead of a blind servant to either. Assisting her will of course be Garl Vinland who will act as her vanguard and iron shield to those who try to claim her power for personal gain (this includes Oz if you didn't catch onto that). That about concludes the prelude, in the next chapter I'll go over how I'll be equipping Astraea and Vinland to face remnant.
