CHAPTER 10

"Hey Bru! I have a surprise." Aleks said, walking through the door.

"And what would that be?" I asked, sitting down my coffee.

"Close your eyes." I close my eyes and hear him place something on the table.

"Okay, now open." I opened my eyes to see his laptop placed on the table in front of me. On the screen, there was a beautiful apartment complex.

"Apartments?" I asked.

"Yeah, and there is pictures of the apartments themselves.

Aleks walked over and showed me pictures of the apartment. It was beautiful, spacious, and had an incredible view of the mountains.

"Aleks, this place is beautiful...but, where is it?" I asked, quietly.

"...Colorado..."

"Aleks, we talked about this-"

"I know! I know! But just hear me out!"

I sat there, crossing my arms, "Go ahead."

He smirked, 'Thank you. Now, as I was saying, my career is taking off Brunetta, whether you like it or not, it is. All the people I work with are all up there now. Eddie and James and everyone else. I know you want to finish college first but, I need to be up there now, Bru. I looked some stuff up and the University Of Denver has a better art program than here!"

I stayed silent, processing everything he said carefully.

"I don't expect you to choose right now, but if you could just think about it-"

"Alright. I'll think about it." I announced.

"Thank you." He smiled. He leaned over and gave me a kiss then walked back to his office.

I want him to be successful. He has worked so hard. But, dammit, so have I. I don't know shit about this school, if my credits will switch over, nothing. We've been fighting about this for ages. I'm holding him back and we both know it. It's driving us further away from each other. He felt closer 1,347 miles away. I hate it, I hate it so damn much.

"Goodnight, Bruno."

"Night, Aleks."

I lay in bed, wide awake. God, why'd he have to bring this up.

I got out of bed and went into the kitchen, setting my laptop on the counter. I pulled up Google and watched the line blink and blink, waiting for me to write. I sigh and slowly type in University of Denver. I click on the link and am directed to the homepage. In the top right hand corner I see their administration office number. I stare at it, debating whether or not I should call.

I sigh, "Fuck it."

I pick up my phone and dial the number, hoping that they are still open.

"Hello, Susan Morton from the University of Denver. How may I help you this evening?"

"Hi, uhm...I was wondering about applications and if like my already earned credits will switch over?"

"So, I take it you're interested in applying to our school?"

"...yes, yes I am."
