(Cuts to Toadtown outskirts, the next day)
Luigi: Luigi, Luigi Mario; that's who... is here to help you!
(Luigi pulls up next to a green Koopa Troopa, with a broken down kart.)
Luigi: Hey, Otis.
Otis: Hey, Luigi. Gosh, I'm so sorry. I thought I could make it this time, but... (he tries to start his kart's engine, but it stalls) Smooth like pudding, huh? Ah, who am I kidding? My kart will always be a lemon.
Luigi: Well dadgum, you kart's leaking oil again. Must be your kart's gaskets. Hey, look on the bright side; this is your tenth tow this month, so that means it's on the house!
Otis: You're the only one that's nice to people with lemons like me, Luigi.
Luigi: Don't sweat it. These things happen to everybody, Otis.
Otis: But your kart never leaks oil!
Luigi: Yeah, but I ain't perfect. Don't tell nobody, I think my kart's rust is starting to show through.
Otis: Hey, is your brother Mario back yet?
Luigi: Not yet.
(Mario had left to win his fourth Mushroom Cup, and said was coming back sometime during the Summer.)
Otis: He must be crazy excited about winning his fourth Mushroom Cup. Four! Wow!
Luigi: Yeah, we're so dadgum proud of him. But I sure wish he'd hurry up and get back, 'cause we got a whole Summer's worth of brotherly fun to make up for. Just me and--
(Ahead, Luigi sees a very familiar face!)
Luigi: Mario!
(Luigi floors it, and drags Otis with him!)
Otis: Uh, Luigi? I'm in no hurry. You don't need to go so fast!
(Boom! They hit a bump. Otis catches air.)
(EXT. TOADTOWN - DAY, Mario is surrounded by his hometown friends.)
Toad: Oh, Mario, welcome home!
Pauline: Good to have you back, honey.
Yoshi: Congratulations, man!
Wario: Welcome home, soldier.
Waluigi: The place wasn't the same without you, son.
Toadette: What? Did he go somewhere?
Mario: It's good to be home, everybody.
Luigi: (Offscreen) Mario!
They all turn around, see Luigi speeding into town, with Otis swerving behind him.
Mario: Luigi!
Luigi: Mario!
Luigi skids into main street and in one swift motion, slingshots Otis forward --- into Boo's House of Body Art.
Boo: Hey. How far did you make it this time, Otis?
Otis: Halfway to the county line.
Boo: Not bad, man.
Otis: I know, I can't believe it either!
Luigi: Mario, welcome back!
Mario: Luigi, it's so good to see you!
Luigi: You too, bro! Oh, man. You ain't gonna believe the things I got planned for us.
(Everyone watches Mario and Luigi's secret brother handshake)
Marco: These brotherhood greetings get longer every year.
Luigi: (to Mario) You ready to have some serious fun?
Mario: Well, actually I've got something to show you first.
(Mario shows Luigi the Mushroom Cup he won, this one was dedicated to Mario's mentor Toadsworth)
Luigi: Wow! I can't believe they renamed the Mushroom Cup after our very own Toadsworth!
Mario: I know Toadsworth said these things were just old cups, but to have someone else win it just didn't feel right, you know?
(Recently, Toadworth had moved out of Toadtown to star a new life, and recently retired as Mario's crew cheif)
Luigi: Well, Toadsworth would've been real proud of you. That's for sure.
(Mario feels better, and they walk out of the racing museum)
Mario: Alright, Weegee; I've been waiting all Summer for this, what have you got planned?
Luigi: You sure you can handle it?
Mario: Come on, you know who you're talking to? This is Super Mario you're talking to. I can handle anything.
(Mario and Luigi rode the rails on their karts' rims)
Mario: Uh, Luigi?
Luigi: Just remember, your kart's brakes ain't gonna work on these!
Mario: Weegee?
Luigi: Relax, these train tracks ain't been used in years!
(Until they come to a train tunnel, and hear a loud TRAIN HORN. The two brothers emerge, going as fast as they can on train tracks, uphill, with no tires on their karts.)
Mario: Come on, come on! Faster, faster!
(Moments later a green Koopa Troopa driving harmless GALLOPING GOOSE appears, oversized horn visible, cackling and laughing at his prank. Later, Mario and Luigi sneak up to an enormous Chain Chomp, who was sleeping)
Luigi: This is gonna be good.
(Luigi blasts his kart's horn, causing the enormous Chain Chomp to tip over! They LAUGH at the gag, but soon realize the Chain Chomp's mouth was directly above them.)
Luigi: Uh-oh. This ain't gonna be good.
(The enormous Chain Chomp burps, pushing Mario and Luigi away)
Both: Whoa!
(Mario and Luigi return to Toadtown at dusk; while Mario looked exhausted, Luigi was still full of energy)
Luigi: Boy, this was the best day ever! And my favorite souvenir? My kart's new dent.
Mario: Boy, Luigi, today was, uh...
Luigi: Shoot, that was nothing. Wait till you see what I got planned for tonight.
Mario: Luigi, Whoa. I was kind of thinking of just a quiet dinner.
Luigi: That's exactly what I was thinking.
Mario: No, I... I meant with Peach, Luigi.
Luigi: Even better! You, me, and Peach going out for supper.
(Mario puts his hand on Luigi's shoulder)
Mario: Luigi, I meant it would be just me and Peach.
Luigi: Oh.
Mario: It's just for tonight. We'll do whatever you want tomorrow.
Luigi: (disappointed) Okay.
Mario: Thanks for understanding.
Luigi: Yeah, sure. Y'all go on and have fun now.
Mario: Alright, then. See ya soon, paisano.
(Mario drives off, Luigi watches him go)
