I ran as fast as he could.
Levi's yells of my name following me, gaining in anger.
There, my target.
The cries of panic and help gained in volume as I got closer. I got to the edge of the rushing stream and jumped from rock to rock.
There it is.
Safety is here at last.
A cry of pain erupted from my throat as I slip on the rock.
I barely notice Levi's hold on my shoulder, keeping me from slipping any farther. The pulsing in my ankle helped me ignore Levi's scolding "Just because you're all healed does not mean you can be risky eren!"
Instead I focus on scooping out the panicking little fawn who was slipping on some rocks as the stream rushed by it.
I chirrup at Levi as I held my newest friend.
A squeak sounded from both of us as Levi scooped me into a bridal carry.
Back at the picnic Erwin sat with his arms crossed in disapproval. As Levi started to worry over my ankle Erwin was assessing the little fawn. "What are you gonna do if it's mother comes out of the woods looking for it?"
I move the frozen fawn into my lap to move the curled ears into view.
Levi glanced up for a moment before going back to his task with a sigh. "Curled ears mean their mother abandoned them. Really Eren must you always get yourself hurt everytime you rescue some animal."
He pulls out some gauze from... Somewhere.
Where did he keep that?"We'll have to set up the makeshift dog bed again. Good thing Levi cleaned everything after your last patient or it'd surely be nervous at the canine scent."
I huffed in amusement.
Even if the fawn got nervous Elizabeth would soothe them.
Speaking of the sassy goose, Erwin rolled her out of the picnic basket she was napping in."You're a menace. Good thing we already ate or we'd be going hungry" Levi grumbled.
Elizabeth quickly waddled over to me for safety, she's grown rather big, and much more brave when faced with the unknown.
I watched as she and the little fawn got acquainted. She still has her down, a mix of a pale yellow on the underside and grey silver on the rest. She nearly has chickens beat in size.
"Nearly time to head home, get some ice on that ankle" Erwin stated as he started putting stuff away.
Elizabeth quickly waddled off to have more fun outside, realizing in Erwin's tone of voice they were going back to the stuffy apartment with the stuffy short man who doesn't let her rip up the books lying around.
I gave the fawn a little scritch behind the ears as Levi started to assess my ankle again.
"A whole month of you getting hurt in some way, if Erwin let me I'd have you couped inside to avoid it"
I stuck my tongue out and wiggled my toes at him.
In a show of true Levi fashion he stuck his tongue out in response quickly before Erwin could catch him.I giggled, he likes to act tough but he can match me in thethe language of childishness and petty.
"Instead of flirting" Erwin started "maybe we could get ourselves packed up before it gets dark and SOMEONE starts to complain about being cold"
Levi stared towards me while Erwin and I both gave him pointed looks.
"Wait, you're talking about me?"
Erwin folded the blanket,
"you were the one who started to list all cold induced illnesses when eren splashed you with cold water" He smirked.Elezibeth ran past us all, jumping into the car, followed by the little fawn.
"I do believe Elizabeth says it's time to go"
Erwin helped me up and lead me to the car.
Elizabeth honked at Levi, making him jump lightly at the loud noise
"She's a menace"---A/N---
Fun fact, this is not the original ending, nor how I wanted to end it. However when I mentally planned the ending of this chapter I told myself I'd remember it and didn't need to jot the plot line out... Sorry this one is a bit bland.I have more to go with this, lemme know if y'all want it in a seperate series like a sequel or just keep it going in this one.
