Sean smiled up at Andrew, his hand resting on the taller boy's chest.
He felt a certain sense of déjà-vu as Andrew wrapped his arms around him, pulling him close and hugging him tight.
"I love you, I'll never hurt you"
Then he woke up.
Sean woke up with the sun streaming directly into his eyes. He rolled over, trying to salvage the last bits of his happy dream. He sighed as he slowly became aware of the throbbing pain in his side.
He ignored it.
Sean sat up looking over at the empty spot in the bed where his boyfriend almost never lay.
He got up and quickly slipped into one of Andrew's discarded t-shirts as well as a pair of joggers before venturing out into the apartment.
He purposely avoided looking at the mirrors, he despised his reflection. He caught a glimpse of himself as he walked past the bathroom mirror and it stopped him in his tracks. Sean groaned in annoyance at the way his cheekbone held a deep purple tint.
He touched the dark bruise gently, wincing when the light touches brought sparks of pain all over his face.
I don't have enough concealer for this.
Sean quietly made his way out through the apartment, looking for his boyfriend; Andrew was nowhere to be found.
It was like he could read minds though. Just as Sean was about to call out for Andrew he got a text.
the guys are stopping by the house for me. don't get in their way.
Sean shook his head, nervously typing his response.
where are you?
rachel's. i'll be back eventually.
Sean sighed. Of course he was with Rachel, when wasn't he with Rachel. It was ok though, she was just his friend. Sean would never try and prevent Andrew from being with his friends.
That's the way Sean forced himself to think. He told himself that Andrew still loved him, and that Andrew would never cheat on him with Rachel.
He heard a knock at the door and his stomach filled with dread. He hated when Andrew's "friends" came over. The group of drug dealers were disrespectful and they constantly treated Sean like shit. They trashed the apartment, shot up on his living room floor, and Sean was powerless to stop it.
He answered the door regardless, knowing that they would only keep knocking.
J: Hey Sean.
Sean let out a sigh of relief, Julian was here. The only one in Andrew's friend group who treated Sean with an ounce of respect.
Don't get it twisted, Julian was just as rude as the rest of them, but he didn't lay hands on Sean and that made him the tiniest bit better than the rest.
The other men pushed past him, instantly moving to the kitchen while Julian entered slower. The tall dark skinned man looked down at Sean
S: Hi...How long are you guys staying?
J: Not sure, Andrew sent us to grab some stuff he stashed here and then he also told us to give you half of it and this address.
Sean felt his stomach flip with fear again. Andrew rarely made Sean sell his drugs but when he did, it made Sean want to cry.
S: He wants me to sell for him?
J: Yeah. You should be proud! He trusts you!
Sean nodded absentmindedly. He didn't want to sell drugs. He didn't want to do anything illegal.
E: Here.
Sean turned around and was met with Elliot, possibly the meanest of Andrew's friend group. He shoved what Sean could only assume was drugs wrapped in a plastic shopping bag into Sean's arms. Sean stumbled back, accidentally stepping on Julian's shoes.
J: Watch it.
Sean was pushed forward again, stumbling slightly while several people laughed. He continuously apologized, trying to move out of the way.
He managed to stumble away from the group, looking down at the plastic bundle in his arms.
E: I don't think I need to remind you what Andrew will do to you if you don't deliver?
Sean shook his head, avoiding eye contact with anyone in the group of men standing before him. Elliot took a sticky note with an address and stuck it to Sean's forehead, laughing as he did so.
E: Perfect, so you'll get done by five then. By the way, that purple is such a pretty shade.
Sean trembled in place as Elliot dragged his dirty fingers across Sean's face, brushing over the two-day-old bruise.
The boys in the apartment all laughed quietly before one of them interrupted. Sean wasn't sure what his name was but he bared a resemblance to Elliot, his brother maybe?
P: We gotta go. Andrew says that boss wants us at the usual spot.
The men all grumbled in annoyance but Sean sighed quietly in relief as Elliot's dirty hands left his face. The group of dealers left the apartment until it was just Julian who remained.
J: Just get it delivered by five Sean. I hate seeing the marks he leaves when you disobey.
Julian smiled sympathetically before leaving, the door clicking shut softly behind him.
Sean carefully put the bundle of drugs on the kitchen counter, stepping away from it as if it were a live bomb. He felt sick like he was going to throw up.
Then again, he didn't really have a choice. He either took the drugs to the address or he suffered through whatever Andrew did to him when he got home.
He went back to his bedroom to get dressed.
