Most of his class, perhaps even most of Japan, was aware that Bakugo Katsuki was no one to be messed with.
Not in a sense of others fearing him, though that may be one of the things, the other was that they just never wanted to get away with somebody with such a moody aurora.
He was quite aware of this, he wasn't blind, and as much as he boasted about this to others, a sliver of him wished that somebody, anybody, could pick up on just how alone it made him.
For most of his life, he was somebody who never relied on the help and thoughts of others, which may be part of why he was so desperate for it now.
However, a lot of that seemed to change the moment you two met.
It wasn't a hidden fact to anybody in your class that you always tended to be on the more quiet and reserved side, even when around close friends, so it was a rather big shock, as well as a mystery, to how you and Bakugo became such close friends.
To most of the class, it seemed like a very uneven relationship; he was always so loud and obnoxious, which you looked to turn a blind eye to things like that.
Yet the more you two grew closer, the fewer people seemed to questions it.
It was just the two of you worked. Nothing more and nothing less.
Not only was Bakugo's temper seeming to cool down after a while, but you also came out of your shell more often.
Students would often find you hidden in his room, talking about endless topics, or conversing in the common room lounging areas, which is mainly where you two were found.
"Yo," He felt a flick on his forehead, his gaze casting downward, looking at you as you spoke, "You good?"
He nodded slowly, not looking at you directly, instead choosing to look at his fingers, cracking his knuckles before he spoke.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He let out a sigh before he stretched his arms over his head, opening his mouth to yawn.
The area, luckily, was completely empty, for a Saturday night. Most students were with their friends or just in their own rooms, choosing to relax rather than tire their tired selves out.
"You sure?" He nodded again, shaking his feet as he got ready to leave.
"Yeah, yeah, don't worry 'bout me." He gave a smile to assure you everything was fine, but you could tell easily just how fake it was.
"Katsu, somethings up. Come on, I've known you for almost two years, you think I can't read you?" You raised an eyebrow towards his direction and he didn't comment, "Somethings up." He went to stand, but you gently held his wrist, silently asking him to stay.
You watched as he rubbed the back of his head, his gaze flickering to the ground, chairs, counter, table, to anything other than you.
"It's," He rubbed his eyes with the back of his pals, taking in another deep breath, "I don't know what to do anymore." He slumped against the couch cushion with those final words, and you carefully went down to sit next to him, seeing what he was comfortable with at the moment.
"What do you mean? What's on your mind?" He tilted his head back for a second before bringing it back to its' original position, and you didn't miss the way his finger was ever so close to yours, to heat radiation off his skin onto yours.
"You, (Y/n), you're on my mind." He admitted quietly, closing his eyes as he flushed, but you didn't seem to get the meaning.
"Why?" You thought before understanding, (not really), what he was talking about, "Oh, it's that baking night, isn't it? Listen I know it was a bit a stretch bit I thought you liked-" He cut you off by shaking his hands.
"No, no," He bumped his knee against yours, a sign to show you he was truly being honest, "That night was fun. Thought next time I'd rather do it without baking to cookies on half-and-halfs' arms." You laughed, shoving him lightly as you eased your back down, your bodies a mere centimeters apart.
"It was a fun experiment, Katsu," You chuckled, snorting at the thought of Todoroki's horrified expression when sprung the idea on him, "If you want, next time I'll get popcorn kernels and see if they pop with your quirk." You heard him give a small chuckle to that.
"We can try that tonight if you want. I think I saw some popcorn bags in the pantry," He offered and you thought about it before poking his side, reminding him that it wasn't time to change the subject.
"We can do that, but first, if you feel like it, tell me what's going on. I don't like seeing you so grumpy." You knew that it wasn't always right to push people to tell you things, but most of the time with Bakugo, it seemed to help ease his mind.
"I just," He looked over to you for the first time that night, properly, and the initial shock he always felt when he saw just how beautiful you are hit him square in the face, "I don't think I've ever thanked you."
"I wanted to thank you for being my friend all this time. I know I'm not the easiest person to get along with," You scoffed playfully at that, and he shoved your elbow, "But I just wanted to thank you for not leaving all this time." He saw you open your mouth to say something but he cut you off,
"And I guess you're right, something's been off these past few weeks," He stopped, thinking his words over in his before he gave up and sputtered them out,
"(Y/n), I think I'm falling in love with, I-I've been falling in love with you, actually, and I'm so fucking terrified of what to do."
Your breath lodged its way in your throat, and you had to crack a finger to remind yourself not to choke.
His sentence played again and again until it was the only thing you could hear, his lingering touch the only thing you could feel, his soft scent wrapping itself around you until it was the only thing you could smell.
You spared a glance his way only to see his eyes looking at you, broken and hollow, small traces of tears marked on his cheeks.
You knew the moment you met him he was a hurting person, and maybe that's why it felt so easy to be with him.
The two of you were opposite halves of the same whole, and you had realized that long before he muttered those words.
"I don't want to push you or manipulate or force you to feel a certain way, (Y/n), I just wanted to tell you how I felt," You heard him let out a shaky breath, "And you can stop seeing me if you feel uneasy or whatever, I'll understand, I'm so sorry if I ruined anything. He couldn't stop the spew of words the fell from his mouth, the fear of losing you growing more when he realized just how much he messed up.
He wanted to say more but your fingers gingerly wrapped around his, your legs resting against his own.
He looked up quickly, only to find you giving him a fracture of a small, loving smile, a blush spreading across your nose and cheeks.
"Katsuki, I love you. I love you so so much. I loved you the moment you let me sleep in your bed when I was scared to be alone those two years ago, to when you helped me bake something for my birthday, a-and I know I'm not the best at confessions, but-" He shook his head rapidly, his lips turning up, making you see the fragment of a smile you loved seeing so much.
"(Y/n), may I-I kiss you?" He stuttered over his words, butting you off quietly.
You gave him a small nod, feeling surprised at how soft his lips actually were, at the tender way he held your face so soft and caring in his hands, how it felt so warm when he placed a small kiss on your forehead.
You heard him give an airy chuckle, resting his head on top of yours, his crimson eyes burning a bright red.
"I think I just fell in love with you more, (Y/n)." He whispered and you gave him a toothy grin. pulling him by the collar so you could be closer than you already were, your lips hovering over his just like there were a mere few seconds ago.
"That's good," You gave him a small peck, "Because I think I fell more in love with you, too."
