„Would you like more coffee, Mam?"

Two more months and i have enough money together. You got this. Two more months.

"Mels, can I have a talk with you?" my manager asked.

"Sure,"I exclaimed and made my way to the office.

"So the last weeks I felt like you were slacking a bit, how does that come,?" he asked.

"Mr. Wright i'm sorry if you had that impression, the stress probably wore me a bit out, that's all. I will better myself, I promise."

"Well i will observe you the next days and we'll see how it goes," He answered.

Doing all these college applications apparently got to my head. I must be more concentrated at work. I need the money for college.

After my shift I got back to my apartment. Living in this shoebox sized New York apartment was not what I was imagining when thinking of living in New York. I always dreamed of the lights, the people, the adventures. All I have now is an old apartment, a shitty job and no friends at all. But it's all going to change when I get to my dream college. At least that is what I was telling myself all this time.

My alarm clock went off and shook me awake. Another day at work. Doing this job was certainly not what I imagined for my life. A little café on 24th street, located next to a train station with unbearable noises and a disgusting smell that came from the dumpsters outside the building. I nearly spent every day for the past year here to afford my shitty apartment as well as saving up for college. Everyday the same people, the same annoying conversations and my manager, that was a literal pain in the ass, who on top of everything will now observe me all day. Great. Could it be any worse?

After a few hours working, I decided to take a short break and made myself a drink behind the counter. I made my way to the back of the café to sit for a few seconds. I heard the door open and prepared myself to serve new customers. But when I looked around I saw him. He, who looks like straight out of a movie. Ordering a plain black coffee and a brownie to go every time he came in. Dressed in a beautiful black suit, letting his muscles shine through. This man was perfection. But he certainly did not fit to this café, this street or even this district. What is he doing here for the fourth time?

"Must be a Lawyer or something, who is visiting some of his poorer clients in the district," I thought to myself.

He was looking at the sweets through the glass. Suddenly he raised his view, turned around and looked at me.

I gasped.

This fine man was looking at me. ME? Me with my messy hair, worn off makeup and dirty work clothes. He must think how bad I look. I was brushing off my thoughts as soon as I noticed that my manager was watching me. Stupid Mr. Wright. I was continuing my work when I noticed that the man had chosen a seat in the back corner of the café. This was new.

"What is he waiting for," I wondered.

Shortly after, I noticed he looked at me. AGAIN. This can't be. I must be hallucinating. I dared to look a second time. He stared at me and put on a smile.

I looked behind me to see if there was someone else he could be referring to.

But there was only me.

I smiled back.

Not knowing what to do, I kept on working. Suddenly I hear someone shouting.

"Mam, I'm sorry is it possible to get a coffee?"

It was him.

"Sure," I squeaked.

Oh god, Mels what was that voice. Keep yourself together. This is just some random good-looking dude.

I prepared the coffee as fast as I could, spilling some of it over my uniform, making me look even worse than I already did. "Great, of course this had to happen, "I was mumbling.

When I looked up, the man came up to the corner and was staring at me with a warm smile on his face.

"Miss, is everything ok,?" he friendly asked.

"ah yes of course, I'm just a bit clumsy at times, I'm sorry sir!" I mumbled.

"Oh no worries, this is my fault, I should have not interrupted you while you were working," he said.

I was speechless. This man was not only good looking but also extremely nice.

"I will take this coffee and maybe I can invite you out for some dinner tonight? To make up for this," he softly laughed and pointed at the coffee spills on my white blouse.

"Oh no you don't have to Sir!" I answered.

"I'm insisting!" he chuckled.

This man wants to take me on a date. A real date. I couldn't believe my luck. What was he seeing in me? I tried to keep myself together and answered.

"Ok is 8 alright with you?" I asked.

"Yes 8 sounds perfect, Miss." He responded.

"By the way, what is your Name, Miss?"

"I'm Mels, nice to meet you Sir. What is your name?"

"My name is Steve! Nice to meet you too"
