A Summer I'll Never Forget

Chapter 2

"WHAT?!" I yelled at Matt.😡
"My brother shot Drew" 😦 he said
"W--why?" I said calming down
"Well Drew mouthed off to Ryan the other day. And Ryan told me 'that boy needs to learn his lesson' I didn't know he was gonna shoot him" he said putting his head down.
"Matt." I said grabbing his hand. "I'm not mad at you. It's just Drew's my best friend." I said.
"But I feel bad." He said looking at me.
"Let's go to my house and talk." I said pulling him to the door.

We got to my house and went inside. I sat on the couch and turned on the tv. SpongeBob was on. I noticed Matt looking at the pictures we had around the house.
"Is this you?" He asked pointing to a picture of me when I was little.
"Yeah."
"Who's this?" He pointed to my real dad.
"That my dad." I said rubbing the picture.
"What happened to him?" He said looking at me.
"Oh uh--- he died." I said trying to hold back the tears. "I was only 11. He committed suicide. Before he did he told me one thing. And that was 'true love is putting someone else's happiness before yours' that was his last words to me." I said tearing up.
"Why did he commit suicide?"
"My mom was cheating on him with Caleb. He lost his job. And he was getting death threats." I said going into the kitchen. I grabbed a piece of cold pizza and went back to Matt.
"Who's this?" He said pointing to my stepsister.
"Oh that's my stepsister. I hate her and her whole family." I laughed.
"And whys that?" He said poking me
"She's a bitch."
"HEY! WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE!" Caleb yelled from the door.
"Leave me alone Caleb." I said.
"Why should I?"
"Caleb I got you arrested once. I can do it again." Matt looked at me shocked.
"Well I broke out once. And I can do it again." I started reaching for my phone. I tossed it to Matt and mouthed 'call 911' he nodded and went outside. Once he left Caleb hit me. Matt ran in and pulled Caleb off of me.
"STAY AWAY FROM HER BITCH!" Matt yelled.

5 minutes later the cops showed up. They took Caleb away.
"Thanks Matt" I said hugging him.
"No problem. It's the least I could do since you know."
"Yeah. hey you wanna watch Netflix?" I said going to the couch.
"Sure :)"
I put on Crazy Stupid Love. It's a really good movie. Anyways Matt and I were cuddled up watching the movie. It was around 1 AM and I was still awake. But Matt was sleeping. I grabbed my phone and took a picture. I put it on Twitter. "@Sarah_Moore: look at this beaut😄😴 @TheMattEspinosa" and I added the picture. Then I tweeted it.
"Goodnight Matt." I whispered and kissed his cheek. I got up and went to my room. I kneeled by my bed and prayed.
"God, I know your busy. But I was wondering if you could let my dad know that I'm doing good down here and that I miss him like crazy. Also since I got you here can you send me a sign that Matt and I should date? Thanks God. Amen" then I changed into my pjs. I climbed into bed, but I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about Matt and I. 'Does he like me?' 'Are we just friends?' All these horrifying thoughts running through my head. After about 1 hour of over thinking I finally fell asleep.
