I flopped on my bed and grabbed my laptop, going to check my emails for the 43rd time.
I sigh and think
Maybe I'll never get an answer..
I wait as the page loads up and hear a knock on the door.
"Come in" I reply and stare at the door as it opens slowly. It reveals my mom standing there with a worried smile on her face.
"Hi hun.. any replies yet..?" She spoke softly.
"Probably not.." I sighed and looked down to see my page had finally loaded.
I see an unopened email with and important stamp on it.
My eyes widen as my cursor slowing moves over and the click of the mouse makes my breath catch in my throat as I quickly scanned over the email.
oh... MY GOD
"I GOT IN!" I screamed looking up to my mother as her face lit up.
"That's amazing!" She congratulated me before she looked a little sad.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked her.
"Well that college is so far... I'm going to miss you.." She almost whispered.
"I know Mom, I'll miss you too but I'll be ok! I'll visit whenever I can!" I reassure her.
"Well.. alright hunny.. Alright! Get packing!" She said cheery.
"Ok ok" I laughed out and closed my laptop and slid off my bed.
I heard the door close and footsteps walking away. I quickly put on,
And grabbed my cat ear shaped self-defense tool(?)
And my small pink backpack and ran out the door.
I slowed to a walk and walked into my small town store strip. It only had about 6-7 stores but was nice either way. I heard a whistle and cat-call and clenched my tool.
I walked into a small cafe and loosened my grip as the rosey aroma hit my nose.
"Hey Elliot!" I heard a happy voice call out as I walked in.
"Hey Em..." I said faking gloominess and waved, walking up to the counter.
"Oh jeez... did you get rejected..?" She said her voice slowing and eyebrows furrowing.
"I got in.." I said still "sad"
"Aw man! The school sucks anyways!- wait- YOU GOT IN?" She yelled getting a complaint from her manager in the back.
"Yea!" I said flashing a closed eye smile.
"That's great!! Don't forget me yea?!" She said still happy for me.
"Same thing as always?" She asked turning slightly towards her computer.
I nodded and went to hand my card over before she held her hand out and said "it's on the house babes! As a congrats" She said and smiled.
I gave her a thank you and went to the table I always did and looked out the window.
I smiled faintly and thought about how much I'm going to miss this small town. I am moving to the big city after all..
