"i'm going out!" i shouted down the stairs.

"where?" my mom shouted back.

"the skate park." i replied in a 'duh' tone.

"just be back when it starts getting dark. don't forget your phone!" she shouted after me, seeing that i was already out the door with the new skateboard i got for my birthday.

i sent her a quick text, ensuring her that i didn't forget my phone.

i dropped my skateboard to the ground and took off towards the skatepark, almost hitting a few bystanders. shouting apologies behind me, i kept going, not wanting to lose any daylight. i stopped only for a moment to put in my airpods and turn on some music to drown out the noisy city. taking off again, i took a deep breath and silently mouthed the words to the song.

"girl, put your records on

tell me your favorite song..."

seeing the park up ahead, i pushed myself to go faster, almost hitting another person. this time it was a boy, but i didn't get a good look at him. yelling another apology behind my back, i headed straight for the ramp. it had been a while since i had been to the skate park with school starting again, so i was eager to take on the huge ramp. as i climbed up the ramp, (i've never been to a skate park so this is probably all wrong oops) i could hear a group of boys whispering about me.

"She's probably gonna wipe out so bad." one said.

"wait, lemme get my phone out. this is gonna be great." another joked.

as they tried (but failed) to discreetly whisper amongst themselves, i finally made it to the top. as i prepared myself to go down the ramp, i heard someone yell.

"hey, doll! you might wanna get down before you chip a nail! we wouldn't want that to happen, now would we?" a boy called. i looked down at him to see a brunette boy jab his elbow in the rude one's side, seemingly whispering to stop.

"at least one of them isn't a complete douche," i muttered to myself.

as the boys kept laughing amongst their little posse, i started getting a bit pissed off. they actually thought that i didn't know what i was doing.

boy, are they in for a treat.

i got back on the skateboard, looking down at the boys one last time. a few of them had their phones out, while the others were pointing at me. all except for one. it was the same brunette boy who told off his so-called 'friend'. sending a wink to the boy, i turned back to the skateboard, immediately regretting my actions.

"you idiot. what was that? a wink? you absolute idiot. he probably thinks you're a creep." i muttered to myself. shaking my head to rid of all the thoughts, i put my hand in my pocket and grabbed my phone, turning up the volume. "screw it. they're just boys, y/n. you got this." i told myself.

i pushed off of my foot, smirking at the thought of the dumb boys expecting a full-blown wipeout. i plummeted down the ramp, staying on the skateboard to the boys' surprise, and making it to the top on the other side. i reached out my hand and grabbed the side of the ramp, while i held on to the skateboard with my opposite hand. lifting myself in the air, i heard gasps come from the ground.

"in your face, you weiner waffles." i mentally rejoiced.

slamming back down onto the ramp, i kept my balance and did a few more tricks, until i ran out of momentum. when i finally got off of the ramp, i looked over to the group of boys.
