My mother had always been way too involved in my life. As a child, I liked to be quiet, I liked to be alone. I wasn't usually active or playful like the other children in the neighbourhood and for her that was wrong.
She sent me to camp for troubled kids so that I'd get help and make friends. I met Troy, my best friend and Amity. She had striking green eyes and long silky pin straight black hair. I never knew that person who stood before me would be the end of me.
I sat in the corner of the cabin and watched as the other kids played and jumped around. Till I heard the loud pitter patter of feet in heading in my direction. I almost thought she was going to fall with the ferocity she used to run to me but she caught herself and stood before me with the most excited and goofiest smile.
"Hi I'm Amity it means love which is funny because my middle name is love so it's basically Love Love funny right", she mumbled out as the smile and laughter in her voice never faded. I hadn't laughed in the longest while but she put a smile on my face. I couldn't help it, it was contagious.
"You're quiet just like my twin sister, Purity. Mum said she needed to be here because she's not a good girl but can I tell you a secret", she spoke. I nodded in agreement and she leaned closer to my ear. "Mum still can't tell us apart so I came instead", she said then pulled away and laughed.
"Besides who wants to spend summer with nana but you'd like Purity", she said then sat next to me. "What's your name by the way sorry if I talk too much. Mum says I have a problem", she giggled.
"It fine like it", I said. I wanted to tell her that I liked her but we'd literally just met so why did it feel so meant to be, "I'm Tyson", I said holding out my hand but she hugged my instead.
"Olaf" she whispered. Sighing as she took comfort in the hug. With her in my arms I felt at peace.
"I love warm hugs"
