You can see nothing.
There is only darkness. Not a single speck of light is visible in the inky, black, emptiness. What is this place? The void, perhaps?
...No. Those who enter the void cannot return. This place is… different. It contains a strange energy the void does not.
There is something here.
And yet there is nothing.
Footsteps are heard in the distance.
A voice begins to speak, sounding much nearer than the accompanying steps.
“The balance has been tipped again.” The voice comments, the voice is feminine and sweet, almost shy.
“I am aware.” A second sighs, this voice is decidedly much less feminine, a deep rumbling baritone
“Fate’s child is out of control, and Destiny’s chosen is reaching his breaking point. If this keeps up, their multiverse will surely collapse before the Destroyer gets a chance to return the balance to its proper position.”
“Your chosen is not exactly helping in that regard, dear sister.”
“You cannot blame him, Karma. He is blinded by the Creator’s words, he truly believes that he is helping.” The first takes a defensive tone, clearly taking offense to the accusations thrown about her chosen child.
The second, now known as Karma, chuckles. There is no amusement in this chuckle. It is empty.
“I suppose you are right. That guardian was always a bit naive, was he not?” Despite his words, he sounds fond of the so-called guardian’s supposed naivety.
“He cares too much. He believes the destroyer does what he does because he is hurt, and needs help. And yet, he remains loyal to the Creator, because he views him as a dear friend.”
“Pity.” Karma spits. “If only he knew the Creator wouldn’t hesitate to throw him under the bus if the situation called for it.”
“You cannot blame the Creator either, he cannot feel like others can. Fate neglected to burden his shoulders with the knowledge of the balance, and the Destroyer fears staying around him long enough to explain. Neither of them are at fault.” She sounds sad, simply mentioning this Destroyer, sympathy drips from her words.
“Again you are, Memory. It simply confuses me how Fate refuses to tell her chosen child about the balance, and instead puts herself through the stress of having to constantly correct the poor Destroyer.”
Memory remains silent.
“Perhaps…” She begins. “We could do something.”
“You know we are not to mess with Destiny’s chosen. Fate has already caused her sister enough stress and tension with her antics.” Karma scolds.
“But what if it wasn’t us that interfered?”
“...What are you getting at?”
“Your chosen, that guardian, is quite close of a friend to the Destroyer, is he not?” Memory takes on a cheeky tone.
“Yes, if I remember correctly. He welcomed the Destroyer into his little gang as the first member.” Karma pauses. “Though I wouldn’t quite call them friends. Those two have a strange relationship, the entire group does, truthfully.’
“Yes, well, he has helped the Destroyer aplenty. As strained and tense as they may be around each other, they have undoubtedly done much to help one another and their little group.”
“Yes, I suppose that is true. Where are you going with this?”
“The Destroyer needs someone like your guardian.”
“You can’t be serious. You know what would happen if we tried to interfere with another child. Past would lose his mind.” Karma attempts to push his sister away from the idea.
“It doesn’t have to be us. Recall that Luck and Chance have yet to insert something into the multiverse. They were meant to add their own when the multiverse was first created, but they opted to wait. Perhaps this was a situation they were waiting for!” Memory shouts.
“Calm yourself. I understand your plan, but there is no way to know if Luck and Chance will even agree to this.” Karma sighs, fatigue apparent in his voice. “You know how stubborn those two are.”
“That’s why we must ask, dear brother.”
“You better beg Hope that she allows this plan of yours to remain strong.”
“It will be fine!”
“You say that, but for all we know, this knew chosen could end up just as the Destroyer, beaten down and broken.”
“Have more faith in my capabilities, brother. I know just what to do.”
“That only concerns me more.”
+++++++++++++++
This was a bitch and a half to write.
Anyway, if you guys haven't read Healing What Has Been Broken, or Falling Into a Different Destiny by harrish6, you guys should probably read the rewrites first (more so Healing What Has Been Broken as it more so explains the story while the sequel is just different scenarios that could come after it)
You don't have to, as I'll be explaining everything as best as I can here, but of course I'll be altering some things to fit my idea for this story. So I would recommend reading the original story if you want the full FGoD experience.
Also the writing is fucking awesome, so you should read it either way.
