sunny days

the sun shines down

like it does every day

it's nothing new, i know

not anything extraordinary, no

but a smile always escapes my lips

whenever i see it shining

because i still can't believe that all of this is mine;

the breathtaking meadows where fresh green grass sways,

the fruit trees that never seem to run out of fruit

no matter the season,

and more, of course,

i cant believe any of it.

most of all

i cant believe who i ended up with.

the love of my life, my wife.

it feels so good to say that

after years of being too scared too.

after years of not being able to.

though,

i dont think about that much.

i only smile at the sunny days

and savor them ,

for they are my friend.

music to my ears

my wife comes outside

while i'm still smiling like an idiot at the sun.

her calls of my name pass through the air,

"arya, arya, arya."

it has always been music to my ears.

i turn around and smile at her, my wife.

my beautiful wife.

"jane!"

i call her name back, hoping it is music to her ears,

and she grins back at me

a goofy, silly thing

that makes me smile even more.

she comes closer

and now i can make out the violin in her hands.

the sunshine catches it,

showcasing its wonder.

the near perfect curves of the wood,

the neatness of the tightened strings,

the wood that is as brown and pretty as the earth its self.

i've always wondered if the gods made it,

if their gentle and powerful hands

crafted the instrument i love so dearly.

they didn't, of course

but jane did

and that's so, so much better than a god.

love and music

she hands me my violin, still smiling her heavenly smile

i take it, beaming.

she also has the bow and taps me with it
