I Hate Mondays.

Monday is unarguably the worst day of the week.  I woke up late, only to find that the coffee machine had broken. The school week was just starting, and it was already bad.   Unfortunately, my week was just about to get a much worse.

I arrived at school, and greeted my friends Drake, Jack, and Calvin.  We all talked in the hallway like we would do every morning. Mostly we complained about how tired we all were. Eventually, Mr. Psych, the history teacher called us in for homeroom.  We read two verses from Psalm 119, then he explained them.  When he was done, he was about to dismiss us; but he decided to show us a mysterious folded note.  He asked us," Who wrote this note?" We all thought that it was a note to someone and that he had intercepted it; but we asked him what the note was anyway.   He just told us that it was to him and not us. We were all very confused, and curious about what was in that note.   It looked as if it had been written with a typewriter.   It was one of the weirdest things to happen all year, due to the fact that the year had just recently started.  It had been 3 years since the attempted murder of Kevin, so I didn't think anything of the note; because strange stuff happens all the time at my school and because it was for the teacher, not us.

Mr. Psych let us out, and we sat down in US government class first.  Mr. Psych began class by having us all sing happy birthday to Sam.  He was the only senior who was 15 that year.  Everyone was surprised to hear that it was his birthday.  We all sang happily; but it didn't work very well.  Most of the class was not at all musical, so it ended up being a contest to see who could scream at him more loud.  Because of all this, Sam was not very happy that we were all singing to him. He then revealed to all of us that he had brought coffee cake to class that day. Monday may have started badly; but it was starting to take a turn for the better.  As we all ate the coffee cake, we could feel the caffeine enter our blood stream and things instantly became more clear, less sleepy, and much more fun.

Mr. Psych decided to break to us the sad news that most of us had not finished their homework.  Thankfully I had finished mine; but I could relate to all those to whom he was talking about.  There were quite a few assignments due, so it was even worse to hear that some had done none of them.  Even this, however, could not kill our newfound happiness.  Mr. Psych started his lesson. I payed close attention, and it morphed into arguments about the presidential candidates.   I was huge lovers of debates, so this sparked my interest.  We talked for about 20 minutes about that, and then it was time for break.

After break, we had a test in literature, and then went to math.  Mr. Wu, during the middle of class brought the note up, and taped it to the middle of the whiteboard.  When we asked him why he did that, he would not tell us; but he said that it was important that he do so.   Knowing that we could not get any further information from him, we quietly continued to do our math work.   Each and every one of us was thinking about what could possibly be in that note, and for some the curiosity was almost overwhelming.

Math finished without any further incidents, and so did Science class.  We all were relieved to finally go to lunch. Lunch is the best part of the school day if you are anything like me.   I ate, and as I was finishing, Kevin's mom, who still taught her class after Kevin had graduated, had Sam come up to the front of the lunchroom so that the whole school could sing to him.  We all sang; but sadly, it sounded just as bad as it had in Government.

Eventually school ended.  Everyone ran down the halls skipping, and shouting for joy!  We had all survived the worst day of the week, and it would all be downhill from there.   Or so we thought...
